Seed Vs Pellets

Just a quick one been reading on the net the ongoing debate regarding seeds and pellets to see which is best and what you guys go for.

obviously i give fresh veggies each day but was wondering whether seed or pellets was better as at the moment I'm giving pellets and seed very rarely.

Just want to see what you guys think the pro's and con's are of these seed and pellet diets.

You're doing just the right thing. Seeds are very high in fats and relatively low in overall nutrition. Feeding a diet heavy in seeds and low in pellets is like a human living on french fries...or basically the average American diet.

Keep making fruit, veggies and pellets the bulk of the diet and seeds should be like dessert - just small amounts as treats.

What I know it is only Sunflower seed and Peanots used for perrot where the fat contens is a problem. Rest of the seed is OK for daily use. Pellets is made of seeds + little other stuf. High quality pellert is an easy way knowing that the perrots get whats needed. I think that about 30 % of the food should be pellet (if you want the easy way) and rest veggies

I agree with HRH Di, seeds should only be given in small amounts as a treat, or for training purposes.

I don't know about senegals, but cockatiels need some seeds in their diet, but the majority is pellets, unfortunately I can't get Bob to eat more than a bite or two of veggies a day.

Tiels need seeds because they are desert birds and do not drink enough to live healthily on pellets alone. The local rescue said to give Bob a teaspoon of seeds a day.

I always give a mix of like 5% seed and the rest is pellet and fruits and veggies . The pellet I feed is zupreem because my sister works for the zoo and she told me the zoo feeds that to their birds .

I did a bit of a stupid ignorant thing [regarding wild seagull fledgling]

One week since adoption and things are going well....mostly.
