I clean the bottom of Rio's cage every day and put down clean newspaper and saw dust (because of the runny poo) but the whole cage needs a good clean because Rio flicks food every were. Now the questions is how do I do this as Rio is very nervous of people and won't come near me and I dont want to just take him out and make him even mor nervous.

We take ours out to the back yard and use the pressure washer. But, you could get a big roll of paper towels or some rags and a bucket of warm water with birdie safe soap and a bucket of clean rinse water and start cleaning by hand. If you go slowly and talk reassuringly, it may help Rio bond a bit more.

Prio 1 is not to make Rio nervous. Prio 2 is cleaning, so try to do the best of it that will do

If your bird is to nervous you may try to put him in another cage or box if you don't have a spare cage & take his cage outside & give a good scrub & rinse. When i need to wash down a keets cage i leave the bird in the cage, they really love to get wet. Once wet the poo comes off very easy.
