Guys my indian red neck during training flew of and hit the fan his one leg is not moving at all there is a cut, i don't know what to do his eyes are slowly closing as if he is going to die. NO VET IN MY AREA!!! my mom and dead are both doctors but human..
Aw, poor baby! So sorry to hear... I'd have to agree about finding a Vet. as soon as you can. Sorry about not being much help but I really hope he pulls through and good luck!
Keep him warm - hot water bottle, heat lamp, heat pack etc.
Mix some sugar and water with a little salt ( warm water ) and spoon feed it. That acts as electrolytes ( a wildlife rehabber told me that if you don't have any actual electrolyte on hand.
Stop any bleeding asap.
Keep a light on him at all times.
Look up vets in the phone book, if no vets then ring up a wildlife rehabber and ask for advice.
Then touch him and move him about as little as possible, he's probably in shock.
Good luck.
He is not spoon speeding, as soon as i bring my hand near him he trys to run and if i hold him he bittes so much he is making sounds not drinking water or doing anything just lying. Their is a vet in a 50 mile radius but since its sunday i called them they are closed.
I rushed him to the nearest vet clinic, i called the vet and told him to come asap the surgery was under way when he passed away i can't stop crying he deid in so much pain the doctors were trying their best even gave resetated him :*(..
so sorry you lost your poor birdy. yes, accidents happen, my IRN flew out the door 3 weeks ago and i have not heard a word. i miss her so.
i wonder where she is everyday.
i too wish i would have clipped her. she would be with me today had i done so.
so we both learned a hard lesson at the expense of our sweet birds
I must say clipping a parrot doesn't guarantee anything when it comes to a parrot flying away or getting hurt from a fan. My IRN was fully clipped when I got him and he could fly just as good as he does unclipped.
I'm sorry to hear that. We always have the fans turned off IF any of the birds are out cause I don't believe in clipping! BUT if the bird needs to be trained, I'm 100% all for clipping. Sorry for your loss!!!!
My God, I've heard fans could be dangerous… but oh my god.
I'm actually shocked over this story, and it scares me… incredibly.
I'm so sorry for your loss, but just remember, you did every possible thing you could!
