Vasa Parrot

Hello everyone, I am new to the site and I love it. I found some great informative information here.

I have been researching which type of parrot is best for me for the past year. I have come across the vasa parrot, in particular greater vasa, which from the information I can find they seem to be great option for me. However I live in Canada and I am unable to find a breeder or pet store that even has these parrots. I am willing to travel to pick up the parrot and such. I have seen a couple posts on a different site of two people from Calgary Alberta acquiring them from a pet store. These posts were made almost a year ago now and I have no way of contacting these people.

I am wondering if anyone knows of a breeder or even a pet store in Canada that has them?

I have found a few in the US, however they do not seem to be breeding them. Also, having to import an animal to Canada is a very hard process from what I have been reading. Needing to own the parrot for a minimum of 90 days and it not be in contact with other parrots. Staying 3 months with the parrot before coming across the border is just not really an option for me.

With these parrots being such beauties I am really interested in them and would love to find out more about them.

Thanks.

I just had a look at their site but they don't seem to have them up there :( .
I am going to email them to see if they do get them in, but unfortunately they are in the US. I am not sure if there is any other way to get a parrot from the US to Canada without having to go through the problem of 90 days.

my local pet store, parrots of the world Parrots of the World, had a vasa parrot once and he was very sweet. they ship animals all over the world so maybe you could contact them and ask about it. they get all kinds of birds from lead beaters cockatoos, hybrid macaws, patagonian conures, brotogeris, they even had a black palm cockatoo once. maybe you could find a loop hole in the 90 day thing? or take a look on craigslist and sites like those, you never know ;) hope this helped :).

Thank you :)
I will have to check them out. They do have a large selection and it says that have even shipped to some pretty far places.
