Green check conure
My Green cheek conure is eating her poop. I clean her cage every 5 days. She has food and clean water all the time. She has a cuttle bone. I offer her fruites and veggies every day. She only eats the fruits. She looks and acts normal. Is this normal? What should I try?

If I wait too long to clean Puck's table he'll pick at his poop... he might eat it if I let him... maybe cleaning the cage more often than that, at least until she's out of that habit?

Try googling "Ask an Avian Vet.com". The vets there are very nice and helpful. There are often several online, and will answer quickly. I've used them a few times.

A lot of parrots eat their droppings & yes it's normal. Dosen't mean there is a health problem. Or it could mean a lack of some vitamins & minerals in your birds diet. Make sure she has a balanced diet & it could help to have a calcium/mineral block in her cage.

I'm agree :) Don't worry about your bird!

I agree as well with Pedro. Sometimes they will eat each other's as well if they have access.

It could help to clean the cage more often as well. Sometimes I have to do mine every day, or sometimes I can go 2-3 days depending on how messy they are. It's weird, one day one might throw a bunch of pellets to the bottom or shred up something that makes a mess, and the next day it's quite clean.

Kevin started eating her poop shortly after I got her and I freaked out. The lady I got her from suggested calcium but when I went to the vet, everything came out normal. I think she just likes to play with it or something. :26:

My conure hates veggies too, so I sit him down while im eating a biiiig plate of them. And start hamming it up. The urge to steal usually gets him to eat some of it.
