So i bought this beautiful parrot yesterday.. i do not know anything about parrots.. can you guys please tell me about his generation or stuff? how should i train & grow him & any useful info you guys could give..
So let me understand this. You know nothing about parrots yet you purchased one. Oh my you have so much to learn. Please research your IRN and what it takes to care for them. They require the proper diet, bird proofing your home. toys, socialization, out of cage time with you and a much better cage than what is in the photo. These birds love to fly and require a large amt. of space. Many are kept in aviary.
do you know how old the bird is? IRNs will eat most of what you give them they aren't to fussy so try give your new baby some fruit and green veg. you should get yourself very familiar with what parrots can and can't eat as it is very important that they have a good varied diet but they can't eat things such as avo(will kill them) also quite a big cage with toys is needed as they like to move around and play
When I bought my first bird one year ago, the shop owner stated from the very beginning that she would not sell one of her birds to just anyone that walked in the door. I was honest and told her and told her that this would be my first bird. She answered my many questions, introduced me to various birds and then sent me on my way to further educate myself. I bought two books (and read them), visited the two other exotic bird stores in the area and when I felt ready I returned to that very first shop because I new that the owner truly cared about the birds she was selling.
I write this not to be uppity or self-righteous. I just want the OP to understand that owning a parrot is not to be taken lightly. It is a great responsibility and will take a lot of your time and money. I hope you are prepared to spend several hours a day playing, training and teaching your new child. Do not just rely on people here to answer the questions you may have. Educate yourself before the situations arise! I'll step off my box now.
This havent been tammed yet.. i have read many things about IndianRingNecks now the one i have is female.. sweetypie she is.. she never makes any sound ... is there a way to make her create sounds ?
how old is 'she' and is 'she' DNA'd because she looks really young so don't be fooled by the lack of a ring it can take up to 3 years for the ring to show if 'she' is actually a he
Actually she were hand weened i believe & not by her bird parents... i am saying that because of her behavior.. she is afraid of hand touch & stuff like that.. Molly you are so nice & i can see your love for the parrots ... can you please help me training her ? i so wanna be her best friend & want her to be my best buddy .. i wanna play games with her & stuff like that... i love her so much..
Such a pretty bird!
But, I have a question. Why would you buy a pet without knowing anything about it? You shouldnt do it with a hamster, but definitely not a parrot! Sorry, not trying to be mean but you could of bought an extremely loud one, extremely destructive one, a very messy one or anything without knowing it. Not researching a lot of the time ends up in getting rid of the animal.
Dont know anything about indian ringnecks sorry. Maybe search Indian ringneck information? I just searched that with the bird I want and learned a lot
