Young bird in my yard!

I was outside with my toy poodle and I walked him around the garage and as we turned the corner, a bird hopped away. It flew a little, but couldn't go very high or very far. He has all his feathers. I tried to bring it seed, because I figured maybe he was old enough to leave the next (he didn't look that young) and got injured. An adult of the same species has been coming and going feeding him for the past half hour. If I move him into the next yard, do you think he will be okay? I have no clue what kind of bird it is.

I think your best bet is to just let the bird be, the parent bird will look after it. Just keep an eye out for stalking cats and your big dogs feet

as long as hes being looked after and fed, i think hes fine. he sounds like a fledgling finding his way. i would get a card board box and cut a whole in the front and back and but it in the bushes near him with some twigs over it. this way he has a little place to hide, especially at night. i would watch for cats and keep a distant but watchful eye on him. good luck!

There is no way he can stay in my yard. I have 4 dogs. He would definitely get eaten.

It could be a sparrow or a robin? I have a nest under my deck and 1 baby that looked about to fledge was hanging from the nest by its ankle. Whatever the parents made the nest with, obviously had strings that he managed to tangle in. His foot was swollen by the tight thread and I believe he might have broken its leg. I held him and freed him and went to put him in the nest but all the others came jumping out and hoping all around! My husband and I kept putting them back in, again and again and finally, they all stayed and we disappeared!!! We could hear the parents were panicked and calling them and that's why they kept jumping out. When my husband went back to his electric saw and made enough noise to drown the parent' s calls , did the chicks stayed in the nest!

Unless it's deadly injured, I would let the parents care for the baby.....They usually need a high protein diet, no seeds. And being wild, they could carry diseases and by touching them, you could spread them to your birds.......I immediately stripped and washed after touching that baby!

If you think that his life is in danger, I would either look for the nest and try to put him back or like someone suggested, put him in a large box making sure that the parents know where he is! Good luck!

I was going to pick it up with gloves or catch it in a box. I wouldn't touch it with my bare hands. If he was staying in one part of our yard, it would be possible to keep the dogs away. But he is hoping all around. I don't want him to get eaten by our dogs. I looked it up, and it IS a robin.

The gloves might scare him, I tried that LOL, I used my hands and don't be afraid, they don't bite! You just have to scrub afterwards that's all.
