Some mornings I love my 'wheat chex' cereal with almond milk. I don't usually buy cow's milk, so, anyways, Sassy can not get enough of this combo!! I'm just not sure if it's healthy...what are your thoughts?

I wwould think it would be okay. This morning my husband was eating his fiber one honey oat cluster cereal with milk and sweetie pie on the edge of his bowl trying to swipe as many of the tasty little oat clusters as he could snag then he would shake off the milk and eat his cluster. I never have a camera when I need one Alison and sweeetie pie:D

I have a bottle in the frig now. As you most likely know birds are lactose intolerant. Does almond milk come like that??

there is no milk in almond milk or lactose so it is not a problem it it basically liquified almonds if you get the plain one Some of other ones have sugar such as chocolate almond milk. Alison and sweetie pie:D

Milking an almond is quite a venture!!, Portaperch...thanks all, I'm not use to a bird liking what I eat, besides the usual veggie stuff.

The almond milk is fine and very healthy. I do not recommend letting her have human grade cereal. It has many additives, vits and minerals that are a bit to much for our parrots systems.

Do you have a Trader Joe's within reasonable distance? They seem to have better quality foods, and more upfront with ingredients and COO, Country Of Origin. I look at sugar content first, then size of portion, and calculate percentage. Sugar has to be just as toxic to birds as it is to us. Most of TJ's grains and cereals that are not sugar-free run about 15% sugar. Some things you buy in other stores, like ENER-C, are 60-80% sugar.

TJ's my FAVORITE store! Yeah, it's an hour away from me but keep an ongoing list just for Trader Joe's! I have a friend, store owner, that checked into starting up a TJ's where we live and the population is too low. Although, we have Raley's and Vons, WalMart is clearing space as we speak, but not enough peeps for a Trader Joe's...go figure.

Is Sacto your closest? We have three of them within five miles.

We buy from Stater only what we can't get at TJ. Wife fills two carts in one trip. Last time was $400, and time before was $450, and no booze. They're getting to know us..

Greybeard looks so majestic eating a segment of Clementine we buy from them, I've had visions of him featured in ads. They scarcely advertise, however. He looks pretty neat, too, eating the last inch of a banana, stem in hand.

We just got a trader joes about an hour away and it is awesome! I was expecting it to being expensive but it wasn't and the staff was great. Definately worth the trip:)
