Wing Clipping methods.?

I figured with summer coming around & doors swinging open & closed all day & bbq's & swim parties to be happening soon it'd be smart to clip both my conures wings so that they can't slip out of the house.

So I was searching around and found this: Proper Wing Clipping

What do you guys think? He (or she) claims the best way to clip the wings is to remove the entire feather at the base. I've never heard of that before and can't find much about it elsewhere online. This might be something I should ask my vet about but since you don't pay an examination fee for posting a question online I figured I'd try here first lol

Yes I do like that, clip 5-6 fether but safe the 3 first out on wingtip

The second way is the correct way. That is how I groom birds. Some birds only 3 feathers clipped, others 4-5.

The second way is best, IMO. It's how my vet did Loki (LuvMyToo, this is what I was talking about!!). Currently, both birds are clipped in the "traditional" way because I didn't have cat clippers small enough for Loki and Sugar couldn't be toweled long enough to do it the progressive way. However, I definitely prefer the "progressive" way.

I know it's for their own good but I hate having to clip their beautiful feathers /:

Do any of you notice a difference in your bird's flying abilities between these two clips? Or is it about the same?

One of my birds, Loqui, is flighted (he was clipped but they grew in as he just molted) the other, Lila, is clipped the scissor way and they both seem to fly pretty much the same only Loqui can make sharper turns and fly a little faster.
They can both pretty much get the same lift and get to where they wanna go no matter how far or high. In short, I don't notice much difference with the scissor clip.. I'm pretty sure Lila could still fly out of the house if she had the opportunity.
I'm hoping with the proper clipping way they'd be more limited... ?? I feel horrible saying that but it's just for the summer months :/

Ok let me start by saying I love the flight harness and in a perfect world we'd all have our fids fitted with one that being said . MY senegal wanted nothing to do with one and there was going to be blood in the scuppers if I insisted, so we compromised I taught him to lay on his back in the palm of my hand (this is how I offer him to little children to pet, one finger on the belly) from which I can draw open a wing and inspect every feather and give foot massages (hey ever spent all day as a waitress on your feet) from there we progressed to clipping of toe nails and wing trims. He will now gladly lay in my hand while I clip his nails (3 each foot this week and 1 next week ) I found he holds on with better confidence if I leave one sharp. This method is shown in the (Good Bird training video vet visit). I won't say he enjoys a trim but he gets up from it without being stressed or mussed from being toweled.
