Pineapple green cheek and peach faced lovebird.
One of their mixes with tons of sunflower seeds. As bad as I feel about kaytee, can
I toss it, and start with a quality seed mix first, then after a bit work on pellets in it?
Got some good seed with safflower, and mixed in pretty bird pellets, can't get
Rowdy bush till next week.
And they were only given corn, as far as fresh stuff goes.
Have not tossed the kaytee yet, but gave the new mix and they are eating.

As long as they're eating the new mix, I don't see why you couldn't just toss the Kaytee and stick with the better seed mix until you have them eating pellets. And if your birds are eating fresh corn, that's a start. Put a small amount of fresh corn in a dish or on a skewer alongside other fresh stuff, and they'll eventually give the other fresh things a try.

You can toss it if you want or just use it to feed the wild birds like I do. :)

When you try to switch them to pellets dont try to switch them to a mix of pellets and seeds because for one seeds are bad for them for a main diet, and two they will just pick out what they like. Switch them to just pellets like harrisons, roudybush, zupreem or hagen.

I believe the poster just got this bird. It is actually wise to stick to what was being fed which was seeds so a different seed mix isn't much of a difference but changing right to pellets is!

Yes, got them last night. So didn't wanna pull seeds alltogether since so new,
And researching whether in time, I don't know whether to totally pull seeds or how to switch..
Like I also plan on separating them but I don't think the first day here I'm gonna take away all their food and pull them apart.

I know they just got the bird, I meant after they are adjusted he/she should switch them to just pellets instead of a seed/pellet mix.

I wouldn't "pull them apart" just yet. Keep on with the same feed and cage arrangements until every one is calm, cool and collected.Don't make too many changes at once.
welcome to the forum , hope we can help you with your new birds.

well I did pull the old crappy kaytee, and replaced it with a good seed mix no sunflower seeds in it
. they are eating it well. tried frozen veggie mix for the first time, and even those they supposedly don't eat anything, fresh wise besides corn, they both tried this and especially love bird liked it.

Beautiful fids but you need to replace that dowel with something else like a rope perch or natural wood perch. But wait until they are adjusted. And you have to get rid of that tent, too many birds have died from those fleece tents do to chewed on strands coming off.

I personally dislike rope perches! Wooden dowels is fine as long as other types of perches is being provided. The thing he's talking about with the happy hut is sometimes they tear off some strings and they can get caught in them. Some members' birds was hanged to death or loosing their foot by chewing it off to free themselves. Unless you can be diligent by clipping off the strings when you see them, get rid of the tent.
