going away - should i take or leave the fids

so i am going away for a week and i can either
A)leave the fids at home with a house sitter who has good knowledge of parrots and will let them out and feed them etc.
or
B)i can take them with
now most people are probably thinking it's a no brainer if you can take them then why not right?
both situations have pros and cons
A) pros- are that they will be some where they are comfortable
cons- i can't supervise whats going on with them and their care
- they might take emotional strain being without anyone they know or trust in fact i think it will be very stressful on marley as he is emotionally attached to me and some days he will call for me all day while i'm at school
-their cages won't be cleaned as often as i like and they won't get as much fresh food .
B)pros-they will be with me
-i will be feeding them cleaning their cages and spending lots of time with them
- i wont have to worry about them
cons- lots of time in the car (about 7 hours there and 7 back)
-we are going to stay at the family farm with my dads sidee of the family so there will be little kids that im going to have to set strict rules with
-im going to have to buy pet carriers that will take away from money that was meant to go towards my teils new cage

so what do you guys think what would you do and why ?

We've traveled with two tiels, both on airline and in car cross country. We had fresh clips on the wings first.

Poopoff or Avi-clean is a must, as well as a hand vacuum to remove all traces of bird. About half the time we have declared a parrot in a cage at hotels, and been charged 0 to $10 per night. If it's just one night, and we don't have to go through a lobby, we often just take the cage inside under a cover.

Greybeard started talking for the first time halfway into a monthlong trip, and was great entertainment.

Oh, Chewbaca would have to be caged the whole time, to prevent damage to car and room, so we've just boarded her.

We boarded Chewy at Fran's Exotic bird store where we bought her: $12/day. Domestic predators where you are visiting is a big factor.

i live in cape town south africa and im so scared that my babies wont forgive me if i leave them somewhere they dont know with people they dont know , i dont want them to think that im leaving them

Would it be possible to have their own room where they could be safe? If so I would take them. If not and they would have to be caged so much, then probably a house sitter. My daughter always keeps my little fidget...he goes over there alltime anyway to play with her bird so in my case it is a no brainer to leave him. I never go away for more than 2 days anyway.

I am having the same dillemma with my baby. Last time we went away he started picking, and we have only just made progress with making him stop. So i'm just going to have to take extra measures and make sure coming with us isnt too stressful

Mac travels with us when we go out of town.

As stated by the OP, the stress on the birds and the inability to supervise the care & feeding would be reason enough for the birds to go on vacation too.

He would not do well being left with a stranger and we would worry constantly regarding his care.

I would take the one who is least able to be away from you and then leave the other guys with a competent sitter. A week will not make a difference in the cleanliness of the cages, or the fresh food. If you think that they will be happy and less stressful I would not hesitate to leave them at home where they are comfortable and used to the environment.

If it was me, I would take them along but then again I never go away for more than a few hours lol. It's also a good idea to have travel carriers for your birds even if you're not planning on traveling with them. Thy are usually only $20-30 and if any emergency ever comes up they are great to have. I made sure we had enough carriers for all of our birds just in case anything would ever happen that would require us to evacuate them from the house(most of ours aren't clipped.)

the one that least likes to be away from me happens to be best friends with solo my IRN and they live together so im just going to take them . my mom is getting mini bus for the trip so that there is space for every one and i will have my own room that locks at the farm

Maybe you can see the need for a travel cage and use it. Take your bird with you when you can, get them accustom to their travel cage.I can carry mine and them not stress, they would be OK with being in their travel cage for a few days.That and think about having to evacuate them in an emergency, stressful at best, but if they can have a refuge that they are familar with, then so much the better. just my .02 worth
