I work at a pet store, and one of our parrot breeders brought in two baby quakers, not too young as they were only on 2 feeds at this point. I received them but didn't give them a full once over until the next day when I went to feed them. I noticed they both had these big hard lumps around their neck. At first I though maybe improper feeding, so it was hard mash still in their crop, but on further investication it turned out to be their necks. It is almost like their is a U bend in their neck that bends off to the side. Having said that their heads sit normally on their bodys and neither seem to have much difficulty moving their heads. If I gently extended their necks the bend went away. We sent one off, as it was not as bad. Both were eating. The one we still have eats and has a normal baby quaker weight of 102-104g. What I would really like to know is if this bird will be able to have a full and healthy life. I cannot seem to find any info on crooked neck once it has set in place and is pretty much irreversable. I was thinking of buy that quaker, but I don't want to get in over my head health wise. Does any one have any advice?
thank you
Melanie
