We're getting to the point where the interior of the house needs some work.

Painting, trim work etc.

Wondering what folks do with their FID's during the painting process.

Mac isn't big enough to hold a roller so that won't work!!

High consentration of paint in the air can be poisen also for Parrots so best way is to move the perrot to another place doing the work and maby for another 24 h or so

American Bulldog Mix,
I send her off with the hubby or a friends' for the day to play and relax until its been dry for at least 2 hours. Rather than be safe than sorry. I did leave her outside though by herself last time I painted though. Thankfully she isnt easily scared and is too lazy to explore so she sat there for 2 hours on the bench drenching in the sun

I've been really wanting to paint our house as well but have been putting it off because of the birds. I've been told that there are certain types of paint that are okay to use around birds but there is no way that I would chance that. We have a pretty large(and practically empty) shed that I figured I could keep the birds outside during the day and then move them into the shed at night for a couple days until the house is completely aired out. I've already decided that if we do this I will be taking a sleeping bag out and sleeping in the shed with them :09: And since my dog won't let me go anywhere with out him he would be in there too, and if me, the dog and the birds are all out there I'm pretty sure my other half would want to stay out there too lol. So pretty much we'd all just move into the shed for 2 or 3 days. But we also have about 20 cages with birds so this would be no easy task, and I would also have to do this at a point when we have no birds on eggs or babies on formula so I don't really see it happening anytime soon.

If you only have one(or two) birds I would just ask a friend, neighbor or relative if they could babysit for you, probably be much easier that way.

American Bulldog Mix,
oh wow . I can see how that would be difficult. A bird or two is one thing, but a whole flock is another lol. good luck1 hope that shed is pretty big.

i put my bird outside about a month ago when we got the living room, dining room, hallway leading up to the bedrooms painted...he stayed out until dark, windows were kept open and whole house fan turned on. I do the same thing when i turn on the self cleaning oven

I hope to paint a spare room while on vacation next week. I'm going to get the no fumes/no voc type paint, close the doors to the room, towels under the crack, and open the windows.

Thanks to all for the replies.

We do have a camper so we would probably be living in that for a day or two!!

Airing out with the windows open would make it mighty uncomfortable in the house. 106*F in Tucson yesterday!!
