My 6 month old galah cut her/himself. There's a bit of blood on her breast. I looks like she can reach the wound and I think it's stopped bleeding. Help! Should I let he sort herself out or should I try and disinfect the wound?

You need to stop the bleeding and take her to the avian vet ASAP! These kinds of things can't wait so don't ask us, just go to the vet!

Welcome to the forum :)

I think you need to take her to the Vet... The cut could become infected!

You can make a paste and apply of cayenne pepper. It has antibiotic and healing properties, and will stop the bleeding. Make sure you remove whatever the bird was able to cut himself on. Wishing you the best.

Are powdered/ground cayenne peppers applicable, or do they need to be fresh? Curious, because I know that dried garlic is no good, due to the way the antibacterial agents are formed.

I am wondering if this bird has started to mutilate on his chest which is a common place. Either way it needs to see a vet.
