Stubborn Rosella!

Hey Everybody!
So im a proud owner of 8 parrots which is very friendly and tame except one,
my Crimson Rosella named Charlie! Ive never really had any problems taming my bird or any other peoples birds for that matter untill i stumbled across this stubborn but beautiful little parrot. I started out with the usual by leaving him alone in is cage the days after his arrival and eventually i gained his trust so that he would eat out of my hand.

so now im trying to get him to step up on my hand which he actually does from time o time (been trying for 2 months now). but i dont get any farther than this, even though he steps up, it still seems as he uncomfortable doing it. i walk around in my house with him on my hand giving him sunflowerseeds and other treets he likes. i also walk with him outside while my girlfriend walks our dog and occasionally i even let him take a shower beside me. but he never gets really comfortable or relaxed when im doing all this and i must say i have never come across such a hard bird to bond with!

So my question is, is the Crimson Rosella harder to tame/bond with than other birds? Do you have any advice/feedback? any good experiences to share?
Any advice and comments are more than welcome!
i'll also post some pictures of him!

We captured this young male golden mantled rosella in a neighbor's yard last year. After having him tested, etc., he just would not calm down and relate to us, or to our other birds, so we gave him away to a woman to keep at a Montessori school.

I have heard that Rosella's are very difficult to keep as pets because of that reason :(

Rosella (rubino)
Hi there!

First off, Charlie looks a lovely little bird (despite his stubbornness!) I have a rosella rubino (Sunny is his name!), and yes they are naturally stubborn little birds with their own unique personalities! However, they can be tamed by giving lots of attention! From my experience, they usually favour one person in the household but will tolerate others. You say that you have other birds that you have tamed; rosellas are typically aviary birds but when they are pets, they demand alot of your time. I was told by the man who reared Sunny that they should be handled everyday otherwise they are likely to turn ferocious on their owners. So my advice would be to spend some extra time with him to bond, it will be worth it in the end!

This is Rainbow, my Eastern Rosella. Rosella's are very difficult to tame, but not impossible. For every hour you spend with some of the other species, you need to spend 2 - 3 with them. From my research on them they have always been considered an "alarm" for other species in the wild. They are very apprehensive and frightened easily, because of this it alerted other birds to any possible danger. Rainbow was 3 months old when we got him, but wouldn't take food from our hand until almost 1 year. Continue to work with Charlie, he may come around. Would love to hear updates.
