I have a Sun Conure named Apollo Raphael
Unknown bird

I took this photo about... 4 years back when I was at Parrot Mountain in Pigeon Forge TN, and well, It's puzzled me ever since then as to what kind of bird he or she is.

as for other defining features, this bird was about 10 inches from top of head to end of tail total, maybe less, and seemed to be fairly happy and healthy.

thanks for any ideas and help you can come up with for me.

The only reason I got this one right first was simply because I beat Zarafia to this thread first ...

Tex dont be modest. You are correct on the ID though. Bronzewing pies are one of those birds that just has to be viewed in person and in sunlight to appreciate how truly stunning they are. In my opinion they and dusky pies are among the most beautiful parrots in the world.

let's see if we can figure it out ...

Looks like a Bronze winged Pionus to me ...

Thank you, I probably should have asked at the place he was four years ago when I took the pic!

Thanks again, all of you! *labels the pic on her harddrive and on her server where she found it XD*

Saw one in person two days ago, in the sunlight ... you are right Zar, stunning bird. The underside of these birds tail feathers are multi-tone iradecent indigo blue fading to a sky blue ... there was red "splotches" throughout this birds plumage ... just a magnificent bird ...
