Hello, I have a Fischer Lovebird, just over 1 year old. We have just got a English Cocker Spaniel puppy, who is now 4 months old. :rainbow1:

Does anyone have any tips on how to get the two socialized together? I dont want the puppy hurting our Lovebird.

We could just keep them apart, but I dont want to just do this, as at some point they may end up close together, and want them both to be trained to deal with each other.

We dont let the two out alone together, we dont let the puppy in our living room alone where the Lovebirds cage is without us. And if our Lovebird is out then we make sure the puppy is on her lead so we can grab her.

The puppy is very good, well behaved and obedient. But very hyper as she is of working stock. At first, the puppy acted a bit wary of the lovebird, would lie down, almost in submission and seemed a bit scared. Now (on the odd time they are out together) puppy seems to want to "play" with lovebird. I dont know if she seems him as a toy or a play mate...but either way our lovebird could end up very injured! I have seen videos on youtube of a dog/cat and parrot out together, and they are fine, but I dont know how to get to this stage.

Even after they are trained together, I wouldnt let them "play" together...dont worry! But it is just in case.
