Feeding instructions/advice?

Peeko (GCC) is coming home in a week or so! Now the breeder has given me instructions on what to feed him, but it sounds complicated. I figured I'd come here for advice...

She said to feed him parakeet/budgie food for a couple months, then transition him to cockatiel food, then transition to conure food. That sounds (possibly) more complicated than it needs to be to me - I thought I'd have to feed him conure pellet food with fresh fruits, veggies, etc right away. Of course I've never had a young parrot before, so maybe this is a complete newbie question...

As far as transitioning from one food to another, she said to gradually mix the new food in with the old food, more and more over time, before switching over completely. Is there any other bits of advice I should know?

IF he would eat the pellets right now, just give him pellets along with fruits and veggies. The reasoning to start out small is that it's a lot more easier to get them to eat seeds to start with. I don't force the transition right from the start as I prefer to get them to eat for me to begin with before I start the transition. So if that's the route you choose to stick with, offer a bowl of pellets at all times during the process.
