Has anyone used Natural Control Bug Spray - Mango Pet Products?

Any other bird safe pest control products recommended?

I have seen threads with this info on the forum. Maybe use the search and keyword mango pet products?

We have 2 large dogs, so under cage cleaning is biologically handled.

I've personally never used any pest control around my bird's cages. Normally I clean down their cage with a mix of vinegar and lemon juice mixed with water.

How bad is the pet issue?

What about ant traps for indoor use and ant sand outdoor?

The traps are safe because your bird won't be able to get it - it's a liquid solution inside a plastic packet (like a "Roach motel") that they grab and bring back to the nest if I recall correctly. Might be under the name of 'Ant Rid'. I had to use it once in my office and I had a tank of Crystal Red Shrimp and they were fine. (Insanely delicate shrimp... * )

Before installing that first though, make sure you completely and utterly clean the bird cage and the entire area around it. Scrub it down with vinegar and warm water first, thus removing all food traces in the area, then put the ant traps elsewhere. (Don't think you'll need to put them under the cage though, around the corner should be fine)

Edit: To give you an idea, they'll drop dead if you spray deodorant down the hallway. >_> let alone near the tank.

Here's the best bird-safe ant control solution I know of, though I'm sure there are some others.....

Sorry, just couldn't resist ! ! !

We made water moats around each leg of the cage when ants were attacking the cage. This kept the ants from being able to reach the leg of the cage and climb up it. We used donat shaped containers for this. It worked great.

It's one that is supposed to be safe around pets and small children. The traps you're supposed to put either under something out of reach of pets/children or at the top of cabinets.

The Ant Sand you scatter around your patio and sweep it into the cracks on the floor.

Ant Rid is a little solution that you put a 'dab' of the stuff in a hard to reach location by your pets.

The reason why I went for those rather than sprays is I found that even with "Natural" sprays, I was still losing the odd shrimp here and there. :( I'm not sure how sensitive they are compared to birds, but I put them on the same scale.

Well, since all I have are birds and all she asked about was "bird safe" I still recommend it. It says on the label it is even safe to spray the cage itself, just NOT with the bird in it. I had a very severe ant problem and it worked very well and I have seen no side affects from it's use. Since it is designed especially for use around birds and I read the warning label very carefully, I have no qualms using it as directed.
