hey frnzz i have joined this forum just now. one of my relative gifted me a parrot. pics attached. he told me the parrot is of some breed (unknown). can anyone help me identify this parrot?? so that i can take better care of him..

It looks like a female plum headed parakeet.

What a pretty bird., I'm not familiar with the breed. I'm glad you want to take good care of him :)

What part of the world are you from?

If you can, and as soon as you can, it will be best to replace that round cage with a larger, rectangular one. Birds tend to feel very insecure in a round cage.

Species, not breed.


She needs a large cage with appropriate perches and a diet richer in vegetables, grains, legumes, pellets (if available), sprouted seeds, the occasional cooked eggs and a small amount of fruit.


Please, if you can, get her a better cage with no wires to sit on.
