Pellets are the same for birds and parrots?

Hmm...I would think that you could, even though the ingredients might be formulated for finches and canaries instead of parrots.

Which pellets in particular are you talking about?

Well the bag for canaries was different from the one for finches (it was at Carrefour's)
I never found parrot pellets, only bag of mixed seeds and nuts, honey crackers, and parrot bread, but never pellets. And that confused me, what if I don't know what pellets are?

Google Harrison's bird food. You can see the differences between what they have to offer from large parrots to smaller birds. I feed my Sennie hi potency coarse, and my Parrotlet hi potency super fine.

They'll have different ratio of stuff in them. Finches for example will probably have less 'energy' things in their pellets than the larger birds who use up more energy. So if you're trying to go species specific, always go for the one aimed at your bird.

That and the size.

Finches can't eat pellets made for macaws and vise versa. :)

Harrissons don't do breed specific, just size specific. Merlin is on "Adult Lifetime Fine" whereas my budgie's would be on "Adult Lifetime SUPERfine".

Actually, I find finches to be more active than parrots are.

Going off of the HP diet only, there is a difference in protein and fats of what would be fed to a medium sized parrot and that of a finch.
HIGH POTENCY COARSE-Harrison's Bird Foods
HIGH POTENCY FINE-Harrison's Bird Foods
HIGH POTENCY MASH-Harrison's Bird Foods
HIGH POTENCY SUPER-FINE-Harrison's Bird Foods

I'm sure the AL diet also varies.

In short, yes, you could do that, but it wouldn't be recommended for long term care. The diets are geared towards certain species for their dietary needs.

Keep looking!

Can't say I do. I found this website, and I wonder if anyone there might know?

Otherwise, if you can't find pellets and want to feed pellets, you may have to order from out of country. Some stores in the USA do ship internationally, or there's the option of going through a store in the UK? That is, assuming that there are no stores in Lebanon that have what you need or wont/can't get what you need.

I will email them hoping they'll enlighten me !
I'll consider international shipping in case I couldn't find, but I'll have to order big quantities to save time and avoid discontinuty

Have you tried looking at the VitaKraft outlet store in your area??? From the pictures the store looks very nice!!! They would be able to direct you to where to purchase pellets if they don't have any available but for a store that size I would think they would have them.

(If anyone wants to look in further detail of the product he listed!)

No, they're not pellets and their first ingredient listed is Sunflower Seed. This usually means it's a pretty high fatty food. I'd look at other options but someone else might chime in and say that's it's an alright mix. :) Are there any other stores you can contact? Keep trying :) It might be a case of you having to suppliment his seeds as much as you can with fresh fruit and veggies if their isn't top notch bird food around. I understand you're in Lebanon and I imagine things are a lot harder to ship around there compared to the US/UK, so it might take some real digging.

We'll find something! :)

Well I feed him almost only fruits, vegetables and beans. Seeds only a little bit daily, as treats and not main dish. If this mix got vitamins (even if fat included) why should I add pellets ?

Well, pellets contains the essential vitamins, minerals and nutrition that's balanced. You don't have to feed Pellets if you just want to keep on feeding fruits and veggies plus minimal seeds. That works well too!!!

Have you tried sprouting or germinating the seed for them? It's much healthier this way. I learned this a few weeks ago and have been doing it this way regularly. :green2:
