I don't see why, in principle, there would be anything wrong with this. Although it is likely your birds will drink from and bathe in the pond, so the water will have to be clean enough.

Also be sure there are 'exits' from the pond. If the pond is one of the steep/strait sided types then be sure there are some ladders or other things a trapped bird could use to climb out.

Well, koi had become too great and we just had too many for the former pond.Hopefully, the new pond will give more space for fish ponds Koi evade.Indoor and Wonderful create problems. A pond inside has no natural light, which is what Koi gives spectacular color.

It sounds like it would be lovely, I personally would be paranoid that my parrots would drown.

I personally would be more worried about parasites. A pond invites lots of other things to come around....

My town's exotic pet shop has a lovely pond. What they did was just drape a net ontop of the fountain and the water. This way, if a bird decides to fly over there, they just sit on the net. Of course, this may take a little bit of appeal away from the fountain, but it really doesn't look bad, especially if you get a dark-colored net.

Ponds are alot of maintenance, we have a koi pond & its a constant struggle w/algae. Its beautiful in the summer if we manage to balance the amount of plants/sunlite to keep the algae down. We have to clean it totally 2 times a year. How would that work inside an avairy? Also, I don't think I would want Merlin to drink from it.

I would agree with merlinsmom. The exotic bird store's pond definitely does not have fish in it. I have kept freshwater and saltwater tanks.... I can only imagine the pain of an indoor fish pond. You would be spending more time with the fish than the birds! :p Maybe a simple fishless waterfall-type pond instead?
