Lola today started banging her beak on things she is standing on, such as a rope, and the couch, but only in particular spots. She just started when her fav person, 'daddy' arrived home from work. She does it slow, fast, it varies, but keeps doing it til we distract her. I read other places it could be aggression but its def not. Another site says it means the bird is happy. Happy is good, but she keeps doing it and we want to know if its something we should discourage, like poss mating behavior. Any idea what it means, and should we be concerned about her hurting herself?

It's a happy thing she's doing! Nothing to worry about. I used to cheer Java on while he's doing it and he would dance and everything. :)

Harley does the same thing! He begins by dancing followed by beak banging. Reminds me of Woody Woodpecker!

Sorry for the delayed response, internet's been down.
