its natural that they squawk. What kind of bird do you have? I find it helpful sometimes to leave the radio on as when it is off my birds get really loud.

My birds usually have a screaming fit in the mornings and evenings. When they do, I turn on music for them and it seems to calm them down. If I respond to them, they usually get louder. Good luck.:green1:

I have a blue and gold macaw along with an indian ringneck parakeet.
Birds naturally squawk. If you don't like the noise then maybe a bird isn't for you because thats natural for them. BUT screaming on the other hand is differrent. It is an attention seeking behavior, and to stop it you ignore it and reward the bird when it is quiet. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

It's a natural for them to squawk.
How old is the bird, have you named him yet?
Lots for a bird to absorb, everything is strange and unfamiliar right now.
I agree with Dakisgirls, attention seeking behavior.
Give it a go, ignore it, then reward with a treat when the bird is quiet.
Good luck

First you should take a new bird to an avian vet for a check up even if not squaking. Mabye it is hungry, lonley, cold, bored...............could be many reasons. Yes, birds do makes noise. There is no such thing as a quiet bird. Let us know how you are doing. SB
