On average, how much do you think you spend on your birds per month? this includes, toys, accessories, and food? I'm about to purchase 3 full spectrum lights for my guys and was looking on my amazon account. I'm shocked at how much I spoil these guys.

And to think Z still bites me for it!

I don't spend too much, maybe about $30 worth of toys per month. I feed her Harrisons and Roudybush, but those go pretty slow as I supplement with fresh foods twice a day which have a very low cost. Food I would say.. $10/month?

It was her first initial cost that was the biggest - cage, vet visit, perches, toys, etc.

Vet visit costs - unlimited. (okay..maybe a million bucks is pushing it..)

I buy Rosie a Kenji each a fun new toy once a month, that's usually $30-$40. Harrison's pellets cost around $70 since I have to buy two types, but they last a couple months. Lafeaber avi cakes and nutriberrie treats cost $20. I save some money on food by using veggies already at the house thanks to my parents, giving them some dinner food if it's appropriate for a them, and use chop mix.

I spend like $140 when I'm low on food a d supplies, and as low as $40 on months when I don't need to buy a lot.

If I include all the FRESH food I buy for them at the farmer's market, I'd say about $200 a month. :54:

Umm. We don't have majorly destructive birds, so we generally rotate toys out and top up every 2/3 months at about £30 each time. We get free newspapers for lining, food is £20 a month ish. (2 bags of Harrissons, we keep one spare and bag of budgie food). Vet appointments are £40 per bird every 3 months. Budgie's go a lot less due to not needing claw clippings...

So it really varies month to month. Is it toy and harrissons and vet bill month? Or is it free cage lining and 'nothing to buy' month. :)

For pellets, treats, toys and fresh food
I would say about 100.00 this does not include capital purchases like cages/play stands
or capital expenditures like vets

Oh only about $100 for food, treats, veggies, toys, and new perches or play stand so maybe more like $150 maybe. :) Oh and this coming Tuesday is a year with her so for this month $200 for balloons, presents, cake ingredients, and small decorations! :D

I have little birdies... and I spoil them without spending extravagant amounts...

I'd say about 50$ a month including the 'vet fund' money I put aside each month still xP .

I'm still a very thrifty Parront xP and prefer making things if I can get away with it.

Hmmmmm, each month Fargo usually gets something new, usually about 150-200 dollars on a new set of toys/toy parts/ gyms or perches to place everywhere..

This month i was good, cause last month i spent 150 dollars on his natural toys, and this month it was 70 dollars toy parts, and 60 dollars foraging toys ;) but i had a 20 dollar coupon for a bird shop online! haha

And i made my own tree stand this month :D

Pellets i am not sure, he gets 4 different types, 2 which i have to buy online which costs me 60 dollars, but i only have to order them every 4 months! :) and then 2 ones i get from the bird shop costs 22 dollars each, but they last about 5 months!

Fresh fruit and veges isnt much, because my mum is super healthy, so we dont have to buy anything special for Fargo, cause mum eats the same!

Then once i month i might go to town and just pick up something from the animal produce where i get the horse food, they dont have anything great for birds, so usually just a perch/hoop, or some little toys that are in the dog section! :p and our local pet shop has literally nothing except tiny budgie toys.. :(

Oh and then his special cooked food i have to buy online, which is an absolute rip off.. Cost 30 dollars for 2 little bags :S Which last 2 weeks.. So i might have to buy that in bulk to save some money :/

He is way too spoilt

A lot ,A lot ,A lot [who needs clothes right?:)] But I have a guy I know you makes huge wood toys [most expensive is 20 Dollars] . I have a farmer who gives me too small of things he doesn't want to sell. I make chopmix and people give me papers, so theirs ways around the cost. But for holidays I ask for gift cards [and I spend it on my birds !!] I love ,love bird toys . Im always thinking will this make my bird happy :)

Oh gosh, please don't ask me! with upwards of 50 birds here, costs savings are very important to me. But I don't cut costs when it comes to their health.
I have never totalled it exactly cause I'm afraid to, it would probably shock me to death.
I do buy the 40 lb bags of cockatiel seed, and finch seed for cost savings which run about $60.00 per bag but last about 2-3 months.
Pellets run me about $35.00 for a 15lb bag for my conures, lovebirds, & cockatiels
Willows pellets run $90.00 for a 50lb bag and last forever!
then there is the hand feeding formula $40.00 for a 10lb bag, syringes(100 for $28.00)
I could go on and on, but I'm going to stop for now ;)

@crimon Wow! You get a pretty good deal on your pellets

I love hearing about how people manage to cut cost, I find that parrot toys are pretty over priced. I always stock up on planet pleasures toys when Petco is having a sale lol. I make toys out of household items, and toy parts purchased from my safe bird store :)

The thing is, in Australia, so say all the toys i buy equal 100 dollars.. You could buy those exact toys in America for 50 dollars :p

Parrot toys are expensive everywhere, if you put the word parrot in something it double the price hahaha kind of like horse stuff ;)
