Rocky - Yellow-Faced Quaker Parrot
Alright so I'm 16 years old, and like any other 16 year old guy my dream is to have a sweet fluffy beard that i can cuddle with like a teddy bear at night. But, you see, my bird is interfering with my goals. I've been trying to grow it out, but my quaker parrot keeps picking out my beard hairs that I have! Each hair on my chin is prized like a trophy. And every time my bird plucks one out, a little bit of my soul dies from within.

My bird is robbing me of my dreams. I'm just kidding. But seriously he does pick my beard hairs. Do your birds do this? It's funny I suppose. I think it means my bird loves me.. Or maybe he is just envious of me and my chin hairs. He probably wants a beard of his own, and takes his frustration out on me. That's it! I can't believe it!

I feel kind of bad for him now. All this time I've had him, and I've been unaware of his desires for facial hair. His feathers will not do. He wants a beard. His Uncle Earl could grow quite a decent beard. Ill post a pic of him. Sadly my bird Rocky isn't so lucky. Maybe testosterone supplements would work. Please help me. How can I help him to achieve a beard worthy of admiration and glory? Thanks for your help.

ROTFL! Yep, our Galah plucks my husband's beard *and* his chestwig. He also nips off skin tags until hubby squeals like a girl. Other times, he pushes his head up under the beard (which is thick and bushy) and nods off to sleep. Must be something about birds and hair? :)

My birds don't try to pluck my beard, but they do search quite thoroughly for hidden tidbits:)

Many Quaker parrots are wannabe barbers: any hairs they think shouldn't be there have to be removed immediately. :D

Anyone who lives with a parrot must never grow a beard, or make any other changes to their appearance, without first asking their parrot's permission. It's one of the most important rules in the Parrot Protocol. :)

OMG I am so glad I just read this. Last night my lovebird decided to give me a facial, trying to fix every little impurity on my face. At first, cute, 24 hours later she is still going. I no longer want facial, ouch!, so now she is trying to remove all peach fuzz from my neck and she also seems to be fixated on freckles. Its like she suddenly noticed that I am a mess that needs to be preened immediately.
