I just picked up a beautiful oil lamp at a market when I was traveling, and I would love to be able to use it. Are there any oils that can be used that are safer to burn than paraffin? I haven't been able to find any. I just don't want stuff to affect Darcy's respiration. Or should I just stick with using it outdoors or with open windows? It's very stable and won't fall over, and I can easily keep Darcy away from it, but I am just concerned about gasses. Thank you guys! :)

I'm not sure about using oil lamps indoors- but I would make sure you use a 100% cotton wick, as well as oil that does not have any added scents.

I personally would limit it's use to on the patio- even with a glass chimney on it I would be concerned about my birds getting to it and knocking it over or whatever... *I'm assuming you're talking about one of these:

It's one of these: EarthLights Stone Candles | Wix.com So knocking it over won't be an issue, and the wick is fiberglass and lead free so it won't burn or need to be replaced. I would never add fragrance oils to the oil, because I wouldn't do that to my own body, let alone Darcy's. I am just concerned with fumes or gasses. I also wouldn't have it close enough to Darcy for him to catch fire or anything. I had a cat that did singed herself on a candle once (I don't think she even noticed) and that was it for me. Lol.
