Your bird's most annoying 'learned' sound

Recently we had some windy weather out here (hot and windy)... It must have stirred something in the air that really made me cough for a few days.

Well, obviously Raven LOVES the sound, because he picked it up, and will not stop "coughing" now !! He is normally a VERY quiet bird. His usual daily vocalizations are talking, and some low volume squeaks and mumbling.

We completely ignore it, but it does no good, since he isn't doing it for attention. He'll do it while playing, eating, resting... You can tell he just likes the sound and is finding it very novel right now. :52: I hope it eventually wears off.

Do any of your birds make an annoying learned noise that you absolutely hate?

Cookie has learned Erik's scream. Its like having TWO Sun Conures in the house sometimes.

Ha ha, I can sympathise, I looked after a friends CAG whilst suffering an allergic asthmatic cough- he went home with a new sound...!

I remember many years ago when I was a kid we had a smoke alarm. As the battery ran down it would give a periodic 'beep' to let you know to change the battery. This was when smoke alarms- and the replacement batteries- were quite expensive. Dad dutifully changed the battery, but the alarm kept beeping. The expensive battery was changed again, no joy. The alarm was taken back to the shop, another new battery fitted and the alarm given a bit of a service. Still beeping...
In frustration dad replaced the battery yet again. Whilst it was sitting batteryless on the table, there was that beep again! I remember us all turning round to look at the budgie. The first day the battery got low he had been left with it periodically beeping all day... He loved that little beeping noise and continued it for years!

O no! I hope Raven's 'cough' clears up soon for your sanity's sake I think ignoring is about all you can do, but I don't think they ever "unlearn" sounds.

Thankfully, Kiwi doesn't really repeat noises. He's pretty much all bird noises, and nice, quiet ones at that. Though, he must've had an owner at some point who took the time to teach him a few things. He says something that sounds suspiciously like "f-you". We always ignore that one. He also *selectively* says "hello" in a VERY LOUD woman's voice whenever he REALLY wants something (usually a food your eating that he can't have, like chocolate:52. I wouldn't mind the hellos, but he doesn't say it to be a nice boy, he says it to be a pain. And he knows the cat-call whistle, which he usually uses for "good" purposes by playing the "whistle game". Though, our landlords, who live upstairs, also have a bird who whistles and they whistle back at when they get home. Kiwi likes to antagonize the little bird by making loud whistles when it's owners are not home. It starts making this huge ruckus, I assume, looking for it's owners. Poor thing, getting picked on by a big green bully

My U2 and one of my quakers have a long list of noises, one of them cries like a baby, the other joins in, one squawks, the other screams like an injured cat (we don't have babies or cats). Most of the noises are pretty funny but last week our quakers learned to exactly mimic our yappy Yorkie, that's annoying. When Harry learns something new she will repeat it for days, she really likes barking, she puts her head in one of her food dishes to amplify the sound.

The budgie and the smoke alarm is hilarious.

Niko learned to imitate my cough (he picked that up about 2 years ago when I had bronchitis). NOT a pleasant sound at all. Luckily he only now makes it when I have a cold (like now).

Sam...oh boy...where do I start? Sam seems to think he's a big mac. He imitates Ripley's scream, only it's a lot more high pitched. Then he's imitating their "Ca-CAAAW", like this . :11: :54:

See now the coughing and sneezing thing is funny. Tusk does me with a bad cold. "Cough-Cough-Sneeze... I feel like $hit!" And he does that well enough to fool my girlfriend, who thought I was home sick one day...

When my sister's Daschund is put in her crate, she makes such a loud squeel, bark, and yelp until you let her out. It's more annoying to me than a Sun Conure scream. Well, in a matter of days, Kiko learned to repeat it. Even if it's a little less loud and more muffled, it's annoying.

Kiko also repeats his name very loudly over and over again without stopping, like 50 times. Even though it's high-pitched, annoying, and loud, it's cute.<3 So just let him do his thing.

Haha kenji's most annoying noise at the time was a obnoxiously loud MEOOOW. For weeks I was waking up to meowing. It was so loud D: he LOVED IT, but now he's less enter knee by the mewling and thankfully does it quiter haha.

I dislike most of the ear piercing high pitched noises

These are all so funny.

Some people can stick their fingers in their mouth and whistle loud enough to be heard blocks away. I can't do that. However, my neighbor can and does frequently when his dog leaves the yard. PB learned and loved that whistle for weeks. Fortunately, her new favorite sound is her whisper scream. It's exactly like she's screaming but in a whisper. It would probably be extremely annoying if it wasn't so unbelievably funny.

The 'whisper scream' does sound hilarious.

Several of mine do the smoke alarm, i cook alot and they know that sound gets attention. The baby crying , not so much now days, been along time since we had crying babies in the house (thank goodness). The big hit with jakiepoo is imitating my snoring, she'll do it when she's about to take a nap, LOL.

Norman, my CAG makes loud raspberry noises, especially when I am talking to someone who has knocked at the front door.

We eat lots of fresh tuna , seared in a hot cast iron skillet, so yes, i'm guilty of setting off the smoke alarm.

My husband has sinus allergies, so Sweet Pea learned long ago how to imitate sneezes and coughs which are kinda cute. But the one that isn't so cute is the nose blowing noise which she makes even if she sees or hears a paper towel being torn off the roll.
