If you are looking for a baby, try birdbreeders.com. Wow, really hard to believe there are none. Especially Senegals. Depending on how densely populated your area is, you might have to get a bird shipped. It's fine to do, but the extra cost isn't too appealing.
Good luck, you'll find one if you keep looking. Poicephalus are the greatest!

Perhaps try the bird fair so you can get to meet some breeders in person? There's one in Redford Township end of June but I'm not sure how close that is to you? Bird Shows.net - Full Calendar of Bird Shows, Marts & Fairs

There's also The Great Lakes Avicultural Society that holds meetings but there's a fee so that's up to you to attend. But no meetings until August from what I've read.

I know what you mean, I live in central Florida and believe it or not, I have only seen a couple of Senegals for sale, one at a now out of business flea market pet shop and then one at a Pet Supermarket store here in town that I saw two weeks ago and they were asking $599.00 for just the bird:eek:. The flea market guy wanted $450.00.

I will see them listed on Craigslist every now and then for any where from $250.00 to $400. But like I said, they aren't that common here. I see more cockatoo's, CAG's & Macaws as well as Conures are all over the place.

I would not consider buying from a non local breeder especially from Craigslist and get involved in shipping. There are tons of reputable breeders that you can buy from and they will ship as long as you are willing to pay the $150.00 or so extra for shipping fees. Have you thought about other species like Conures that might be easier to find in your area?

The show is in june but across the state :/

Id prefer to stay away from conures because of their loud nature. Yes its never a guarantee of a parrot being quiet but ive read these two are the quietest besides cockatiels and budgies. I understand there are repituble breeders that ship but i cant find one. Anyone have references? Ive messages a few people and got no where due to it looking like a complete scam. Id hate to lose 500 or so to a scammer and get nothing in return.

Thanks for the replies

If your willing to drive a little way in livionia, Michigan there's a bird store called "discount pet; bird store" I was there a little while ago and they had quite a few sennies, they hand feed them there, and they are all pretty nice people. I usually always go there to get toys, and cages. I've also gotten my sun conure from there. They have pretty... Decent prices, if you bring in cash they give you a 10% discount and if you get a bird and a cage you get another discount. If you call ahead they will let you know what birds they have and they will usually let people come in and play with the birds they are looking at getting

Here in Houston sennies and other pois are fairly common (not including capes.) Bird breeders.com is a good place along with birdsnow. I'd check reviews and speak with any breeder you might be interested in.

Try here... The breeder is well known across the US. Scott Lewis - Old World Aviaries in TX Old World Aviaries pricing & availability Shows he has 2 baby Meyers ready in the summer. Only $415

Another reputable and very well known breeder is Jean Pattison 'the African Queen' she has written numerous African bird articles, and is considered an authority on the species. African Queen Aviaries. Her Poicephalus are $700.

Be careful about bringing viruses (deadly bird disease microscopic particles) home on your clothes or shoes which are all around at bird fairs.

They get both species in very frequently. They just sold one, and are expecting more. This place (chirping friends) is a very reputable place. They also do rescue and re-homing. There are no shortage of birds that need a good home. Good luck
