Lilo - Female Green Cheek Conure ~ Pal - male cockatiel ~ Pheobe - female cockatiel
I have been looking for another bird for a while and I wondered could you keep two male budgies in the same cage? I would really like a multiple bird home and not just two. So of they can be together will they be tame? Because I know that if you put a female and male together they will bond I don't want that so will males do ok together? And what if I add a boy love bird? Will that be okay? I know that love birds are bullys but maybe? If there are no mates? Thanks so much! And it won't be for a while because I got to take care of baby boo and get him grown up! :) :blue2: :greenyellow: :rainbow1:

Oh and if I did get a love bird with the budgies and it doesn't work out then I will just move him to a different cage, I don't believe in rehoming unless it is really necessary.

I have a gcc and just got two baby budgies and a lovebird! LOL :D Go for it! :) The budgies (I'm not sure about their sex, too young) are so bonded, they preen and cuddle with each other all the time. Their ceres are identical - so I hope they are both either girls or boys. As far as they are young it should be perfectly fine to put two male budgies in one cage. A lovebird should be separately from budgies for sure! :) I had my lovie for just a few days, and she is such a sweetheart - she cuddles and snuggles into my robe and hair. Her owner said she was not tame, but I guess she was just craving for attention. The budgies are totally wild indeed - I'm not yet sure how to tame them. :/

Putting the budgie with the lovebird??? If that's what you mean, that's a big no no! You put anything with a Lovebird, the Lovebird will win. They're vicious towards others not their kind. Two male budgies can live together just fine. Lovebirds depends on each individual. They can be evil towards another but at times they can be fine with another as well. You need to have a different cage setup anyways if you were to get them due to quarantine process that you should follow!!!

My two male budgies were in the same cage for a while. The only reason they're not now is Pix has a medical condition (non-contagious) and needs his own food supply. They still have 'play dates' at Pix's house lol.

The two are best buddies! In fact, I've even seen Twigs try to mount Pix  I think it was a gesture of dominance since Twigs definitely was the boss of the two. They would bicker at times when they shared a cage, but it was nothing serious like real fighting. More like arguing over the food dish before Twigs would push Pix out of the way. Budgies are colony birds, and they thrive when with they're own kind. :)

MikeyTN, ok I won't even try to put them together. Defiantly go safe then sorry!

RavensGryf, aw I bet they are so cute! And I'm sorry about Pix but thankfully they will always be best friends! :) And that shows me there is hope in two budgies together! Good!

My dad later down the road wants to get a Pionus! He loves them! And we are looking into fostering parrots too! :D so maybe we will be full of awesome fids!

I just realized you were looking for "quiet" species?
Just remember that if I you get Budgies, they are REALLY NOISY, and surprisingly loud for their size. The males will near constantly be emitting a noise of some kind. The squeaks and soft twittering is cute, but watch out, the screaming reverberates the whole room and you have to move them to hear the tv! Gram for gram, they can be both loud and noisy. This was my first experience with budgies, and I was very surprised at the noise.

I guess I'm so used to the big birds scream keets chirp doesn't even bother me. I actually enjoy to listen to them chatter. But I guess to people not used to them find them noisy. :)

I have had budgies before and eesh I remember how loud little mango would get! And I would LOVE a African gray or a zon but my dad doesn't like loud but I never mind Lilo when she screams! :) And a pionus is quieter and not to big so its so perfect!
