Hello, I have fully tamed cockatiel and I think its time for first trip outside the cage.

But I have one question. The Cage is placed in room with one window out of my reach, therefore I can not cover it with something, and fly might be dangerous.
I devised one solution. Wait until the dark and try my cockatiel put out the cage with artificial lighting.
Outdoors will be night, so my bird I think will not want to go that way, so it will be pretty safe I think.

What is your opinion about that?

I have one more solution and that is put bird with his cage to other room and release him there. But I affraid, it is not the best idea, he may become stressed and my cage is quite big to transport.

I wonder what do you think about my first idea, it seems be simplest and best for my bird according to me. When will be outside the window night, my tiel will not want to fly that way.

Thank you.

Is your Cockatiel clipped and does he/she know recalling?
How late are we talking? If it's earlier, the lights from outside might be able to use that (the lights) as an advantage. The natural sunlight is able to give your cockatiel artificial lighting and using artificial lighting at night isn't necessary.

I would personally take him to another room with a more secure setting. He shouldn't be too stressed, people take their birds to their bathroom to train and bond with them. Is there any chance there is a travel cage/smaller cage you can get your hands on to transport him?

No, he isnt clipped.
About recalling: I think there will be no problem to catch him because I bought him from people who keep him free in house and so he is fully accustomed to hand and people.
He sit down on head, shoulder or finger by himself when someone came near him.

If will be earlier, I think it loose that effect which I want.
When it will be not fully dark outside, tiel may wish to fly that way and may crash to the window. If it'll be dark out there, I do not have to worry about it I think.
I dont know, but I think tiels dont fly to dark spaces.

Correct me if Im wrong, Im only beginner.
