Started to get my birds back into training again. What are some tasty treats that birds love? (especially ones that can be broken into small portions). My birds love sunflower seeds, but for the amount of training I want to do I cant be giving them too much of that. I have also used broken up almonds - for my ekkie and a small head of broccoli for my tiel.

Thought it might help myself and many other people to get a list going of some of those things your birds will go wild for.

I'd be interested to know this as well. I'm training a YNA and I can't seem to find anything that he really really likes. He does like peanuts but it's still not an irresistable treat for him. Cheese has been recommended to me, although I thought cheese was not good for birds...

I saw a lot of bird training videos using safflower seeds. Although I'm not too sure how different from sunflower seeds they are or how nutritious they are, the birds seemed to love em! lol

Mine love Sao biscuits. I know it's off the thread topic, but i gave the girls the bone left from the T-bone we had for dinner, shadow looked at it like I was offering her an alien, in true cocky style the too devoured the scraps of meat with soooooo much enjoyment

If I want Mishka to do anything I mean ANYTHING for me I offer her plain popcorn.
I only offer her popcorn and yoghurt when training her.
I give her a bit of yoghurt, shortly after her dinner every night. When first offering it to her, she was taught to dance dance, then turn 3 times, then high five and then to wave. I know this sounds like one heck of a lot of commands, but she learnt them in no time. When she sees her yoghurt bowl, she now does all the above commands without being told. I will video her doing the above soon.

So glad someone else has said that LoL :D
I keep telling my two teen sons, Mishka is talking and making sense, more than what they were saying at the age of 2 1/2 years. :)
