Husband surprised me this morning. We found an Alexandrine parrot several weeks ago needing a home. Well he wants to bring him home for me because I like birds. I like them so much last night I ran into Petco to get a new edible perch for Buddy the Buzzsaw, he destroyed his old one in 10 days. While there they had a Green Cheek Conure that was hanging upside down by one tow (show off, lol), and a red bellied parrot that I fell in love with. He rolled on his back and was playing with my fingers with his feet. Sooooo cute!!!!

I've been thinking about getting a second bird so Buddy has a friend. Even if they don't want to be next to each other at least he'd have a fellow talker. I know very little about Alexandrines and I've been reading up. My question is are Alexandrines and Amazons a good mix? Buddy is a redhead and they would have separate cages. Thanks!

I dont know much about Alexandrines but they are very similar to indian ringnecks. If they arent socialized they can become aggressive. I remember when my petco had birds. They had so many diffrent kinds. Now they have Budgies and thats it. My mom almost bought a Galah but it was sold before she could.

My Alex is on the other side of the room from the zons, and they mostly ignore each other. My zon, Slater, has picked up alot that Xander says though, so they are aware of each other. Alexes are amazing birds! My Xander was kept covered in a back bedroom for over a year, and he was desperate for attention. To this day, he has never bit us, he is just a fantastic guy:) Not all are like this for sure, but we were definitely lucky with him.
