You really can't answer a question like that without talking to a product's manufacturer, so I took the opportunity to contact Holmes customer support as to whether that particular heater had any parts or processes that used Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) or Teflon and their answer was NO.....

Actually, it's really better to contact manufacturers via regular mail or E-mail so that you get specific answers to specific questions and have a written record, in the unlikely event you are ever given false or otherwise erroneous information.....

Good luck.....

I think it would be fine. We have used a similar (small) Holmes heater in our bathroom in the winter for years, and Kiwi is always showering with us too (thus exposed to the heater). Teflon actually only releases the fumes when heated above 400 F, which a normally functioning space heater is certainly not running at, even if it did have it in it (which I highly doubt)!

My only suggestion is that you let it run for a few hours outside or in the garage, as ALL new space heaters put off a terrible odor when brand new. Once the initial "new" odor has dissipated, it should be fine to use:) Oh, and next year/subsequent years when you pull it out of storage after summer, you'll want to take it apart and clean it or else it will smell like burnt dust:26:

Same here, Buddy has his personal heater. We live in south Texas and rarely use a heater so I turn this on to blow in half of his cage. That way he can warm up or cool off. He loves it. We don't leave it on unattended either.
