Wondering if anyone has experience with taking their pet birds over the US/Canadian border ?

I'm an american student but I go to veterinary school in Ontario which is also where I purchased KiKi my GCC.:green2: I have no immediate plans to travel to the US but was wondering how much of an effort it would be for me to bring her?

I'm sure this is all on some immigration website but I'm curious to hear peoples experiences in the matter!

I cross that border frequently - without animals. Best advice is to understand and fully comply with regulations. Every customs/immigration officer on both sides has been cordial and friendly, but they have a deserved reputation for being sticklers. A caveat: my experiences are at airport facilities; don't know if the culture at other crossings is different.

Sounds about right. I'm very familiar with customes as I've travedl a lot and understand the necessities of security and such BUTTTTTTTT I hate the paper work. My brain turns to mush even as I try to skim those links x|

Good information though and like I said I'll have time to keep looking and figurin it out. She can't be the only bird that has a travel crazy owner :p Thanks again for the help !

You may also be interested in Global Entry. (return to the U.S.)
It's a streamlined approach that reduces entry paperwork for "trusted travelers." Probably wouldn't make it easier for an animal crossing, but you might check it out! About Global Entry | U.S. Customs and Border Protection
