Harness Size

I'm going to purchase a harness for Eddie the Ekkie so I can start introducing him to it. I have looked at a few harnesses available and IMO the Aviator looks the best choice. This may be a silly question but I'm wondering what size to get? Eddie is a Red Sided Ekkie so he is only a wee little tacker weighing in at 370g. This would make him suited for the small, yet the website recommends the Medium for Ekkies. Has anyone used an aviator harness for a bird of Eddies weight? Does exact fit really matter? I'm assuming weight would be the best guide to follow, but just curious.

Here is the website The Parrot University Aviator Harness

I really have no idea, however, I would guess that weight would be the best gauge. I do know that Aviators are the best and safest.

I have an idea. If you purchase frome Ebay, it might be cheaper. But... if you purchase from the Aviator website I'm pretty sure you're allowed to return it (there might be some hassle involved with that though). So, buy a small harness and buy one of the next size up. The that fits, you keep; the one that doesn't, you return for your money back.

What do you think?

Well I got a medium aviator harness for my YN Amazon. I haven't gotten him used to enough to get it on, but it looks like the right size. Hope that helps!

Thanks for that, certainly can't hurt to have a look.

Yea I saw that, it is a very good price actually. It will cost me over $40 AUD + postage to get it from the Australian stockist, so its definitely cheaper.

You might want to check into each website's return policy for them, for some reason I don't think you can return the harnesses. I looked on avianweb.com where I ordered mine from and found this...

Warranty:
Defects: The aviator harness is guaranteed against any defects. If you receive an item that is defective, we will gladly replace it. Please e-mail the Avianweb Administrator for instructions.
"Fit Guarantee" : If you order an aviator harness and it doesn't fit, the manufacturer will replace the item for the correct size free of charge.
Please note: Due to strict infection control policies, this product is not eligible for return if used.

I'm not sure how they differentiated opened versus used. It might be good to call and find out.

Thanks OM that is an important point.

Its actually kinda weird, I would think the only way to check size would be to try it on the bird, but then you can't return it if its wrong lol - dunno how they came up with that one:rolleyes:, I will call them.

Just guessing, but I think that their saying that if it doesn't fit the "manufacturer" will replace it but you can't send it back to the vendor for exchange or refund, just my take on it...........
