Bird cage backgrounds?

I haven't brought home my Quaker yet :( But...I am getting everything ready for him. I saw on a website I was looking at that they sell backgrounds for birdcages. Does anyone use these? I was really curious if they would be good for the bird? I think they only go on the back of the cage.
I am curious if anyone has heard of them or used them.
Thanks,
Amy

I've only seen background used for finches and canaries ect, most any hook billed bird would probably destroy in minutes if it was able to reach it, being connected to the cage would most likely be to close....I'd be interested to take a look if you want to post a link to the website :)

Love the idea, they look great, however to small for me, that would be cool to do a whole wall in........

I wish I could paint...I'd love to decorate the bird room like that.

on topic (kind of) of things on cages, I used zip-ties to attach old sheets to Jade's and Ruby's cages. Since they're the big 306 King Cages, reaching up to the top is pretty tough when you're short like me. Works pretty well. I did it for Max's cage too, but he bit through the zip-ties in about 2 minutes.

I didn't have time to watch the whole thing, but from the very beginning, I can see problems...ie. styrofoam, and glue...The styrofoam if ingested, is very dangerous.

Well, I wouldn't worry too much about a background with a quaker. Quakers are not from the jungle, they come from sabanas, prairies and thin forests but they are also found everywhere in urban environments so they are quite adaptable and don't seem to be bothered at all by where they live. The color of the room where they are in is important though because the walls reflect the light and that makes a difference so, if the room where the bird is going to be kept doesn't have large and/or a lot of windows or has a North exposure, the bird would be better off if you painted the walls a nice sunny yellow. If it has A LOT of light (light is VERY important to birds and you should look into getting it a good quality full spectrum source), you can get away with green or a light beige. Not blue. Blue is not really found that much in nature and never as a background, besides, it inhibits appetite and has no energy. What you can get that your quaker would LOVE is something made of sticks with more extra loose ones for it to build on it. They are excellent engineers and their nests are made of sticks and branches and stuff like that (they are the only species of parrots that build communal nests where they live all year round - see this:

. They look as if they were haphazardly made and very untidy but they are actually quite solid.

Great idea for a tank.I've done this before..I had plants sticking out from between the rocks as well. But like sharon said,I don't think it's a good idea for hookbills.Unless
they can't reach it of coarse.
