I am especially interested in GCC for obvious reasons, but im very curious what age the oldest bird on the forum is, or just any of your oldest birds and what species? One of the things that drew me to birds is how long they can live. I want a friend for life. (i know GCC only live about 25 years, but thats better than a dog) :43:

Kiwi is 16-ish, but he's my only bird. My mom's DYH is at least 45, and most likely quite a bit older (wild caught). She's had her since 1975 and she was a sexually mature adult when she was caught (was going to be used as a breeder, my mom saved her).

This is a good question My oldest is 15y and well that's old to me... Even though I know he will live till he is 50y! My greenie is 6y.... But there is a amazon that my cousin owns that is turning 80 next month I think! Now that is old!

My oldest bird is a female lovebird; she's 14. She shows absolutely no signs of her age (thank goodness) so I'm hoping she'll be one of those lovebirds that lives into her 20s.

My oldest is 12 years old...Blue front amazon. I did track her leg band to Hartman Aviary and asked if this would be accurate (I got her off craigslist so only knew what I was told by her previous owner) and they did respond and said that yes that is her approximate age. My sister was bird sitting for a friend last month while they were on vacation. She watched a 23 year old cockatiel! I thought that was pretty old for a cockatiel! Now my sister is looking for a feathered friend of her own...lol.

My great grannys tiel Pete lived to about 25 or 26. He was the meanest thing to anyone except her. Oh well I guess that is boound to happen when you live out in the middle of Alabama.

I have a proven pair of wild-caught Goffins that are in their early 40s.
Don't know his age, but my Moluccan is likely quite old.
First family bird is a BFA, at least 30 yrs.

Ya! But they live all the way over in Florida. So I have never seen the bird. but I have seen pictures and he looks his age! They have only had him for about 8 years. They found him at this parrot rescue place! I am glad they adopted a sienor bird His name is Sammy.

Robin my Red Bellied parrot is 20. I've had him that long too! Hard to believe when I look at him that I've had him all these years.

From what my 2 avian vets tell me, Poi's are not typically as long lived as some other birds their size or smaller . I told him you just wait... Robin will be your first Poi patient to live 30+! Neither vet has seen any Poicephalus parrot live longer than early-mid 20's, but Robin is not showing real 'aging' signs yet. His lower mandible has turned white, and doesn't get too hormonally crazy acting anymore, but other than that, no reason he can't live longer than most!

Well.....My major Mitchell (Leadbeater) cockatoo was 68 when it passed away September of 2011. She was born around 1943...had 4 previous owners before me. Was a sweety.

Poppie My BFA is going on 8.

My oldest is Cally, a DYH. I was told she is between 51 and 61, no way to know for sure
Next would be Darwin, the HH, who is 23 now (she is banded).
