question abut new parrots

hello i have this parrot i bought it yesterday

but i dont know what type of parrots it is. also i dont know if it's ( male - female )

and it also doesn't make any sound

another question i want to know if i can make it speak (words) and how to do that?!

Do you know the age? Looks like a green female Indian Ringneck to me, that would depend on the age though as the males don't get their rings until 2 or so (males have black rings around their necks)

Age is hard to tell - adult males develop rings around their neck as sunset chaser said, so yours is either a juvenile male or a female. The gender can be determined with a dna test if you're not sure and want to know.

He/she is probably being quiet because it's a new environment and he's still figuring out his surroundings and how safe he is. We have wild ring necks in the UK and their voices carry a long way when they want them to! Talking is never a given with parrots of any species but there are lots of online tutorials on how to encourage a bird to talk if you use Google. My galah doesn't talk but it doesn't bother me, and she's very good at communicating with her repartoire of various noises.

Hi there. Sunset_Chaser is correct. That looks like an Indian Ringneck to me as well. As it is new to your home and in a new environment, the bird will first need to get familiar with its new home before they will feel safe enough to make sounds. Right now he/she probably don't wish to draw too much attention to itself, in case that would alert possible predators that might come and eat him. That will change once he feels safe in his new home. Many of them do talk, but many don't, if depends on the individual.

If this is your first bird, please, please, please spend time on doing a lot of research on how to best care for your bird. Food, toys, cage size etc are all important elements.

If you put in the time in making sure how to care and provide for it, you will have one of the most amazing pets ever!

Just speaking from experience, my ringnecks were both silent for the first little while. My green boy talks, but not words. He has his own sounds, and will answer you if he knows you're talking to him. My blue female talks to him, and does a wolf whistle when we are out of sight of her.

Yours may make sounds when it settles in, but may never speak actual words. Its up to the individual bird. Mine don't speak, but that doesn't mean they dont communicate with me.

He or she might never speak words, the closest thing is to a low growl type of talking.
But, there could be a chance they could be wonderful at mimicry. Patience is the key, your new parrot is still settling in, by the time they become more vocal and settled try playing a particular sound or saying a specific word everyday. It may takes days, weeks, or months, but if you're persistent enough, theres a higher *chance* they can begin to talk or mimic.

omg some1 told me there is blood in Feather is that true ? i didnt notice any blood ,

he told me from picture he saw a blood and prefer to Take off the feathers bleeding

Pin feathers (blood feathers) are developing feathers, I can't remember exactly what role the blood plays in the development, but I'm assuming to push nutrients and stuff through to feed it and help it grow, could be way off though, someone please fill me in...

Anyway, sometimes these break and depending on size, might bleed a lot, I've read stories about birds bleeding to death but I don't know how much truth is in that.

With a broken blood feather though, you should see a vet to get it pulled if it needs to, you shouldn't do it yourself really.

If it is true that they can bleed to death from a broken blood feather I'd say it's extremely uncommon.
I've never even had a bird break a blood feather.
But I guess if you know how to stop the bleeding fast you'll be okay, something I should look more into.

But you shouldn't worry about them. When you get to the point to where you can cuddle with your bird you might notice black-ish pin feathers, those are blood feathers that aren't ready yet, they'll turn grey-ish and have like a coating that peels off, I like to help Kiwiberry shed those, but if you accidentally pinch one that's not ready then it'll hurt and your bird will let you know.

But yeah, no need to worry about them

cuz he wont let me to catch him till now , and i am little scary to get this feather :/

i think i'll get him to vet , but all vet here so stupid :/

Definitely. All birds get blood feathers.
You know when you find them outside and they have this hollow shaft, that's where the blood was.
No need for a vet, unless you're doing a general check up.

Don't try to catch him, that'll make him scared of hands. Instead, read up on some taming methods. But let it be on his terms, do small steps, maybe push him a bit occasionally when he's more comfortable.
Keep the training sessions short, I usually go about 5-10 minutes or so a couple times a day.

i put him in salon where we all sit and tv , is that bad for him ?! should i put him alone in room ?!

Don't be moving him around, find a fixed spot for him.
I'd put him in the room you spend the most time in.

Don't worry about the tail feathers. Kiwiberry's feathers were in crap condition, mainly the wing and tail feathers, but she's moulting now and looking pretty as ever!

Youngsters don't seem to care too much about their feathers lol
