Hello all!

As some of you know, we have recently rescued an Eclectus male from a bad situation. Well, over the last couple weeks, we have slowly moved him closer to our female African Grey so they can get used to one another.

The other day, I rolled our Grey's cage outside for some fresh air and sun, and decided to place my male Ekkie in there with her. They seemed to get along well.

I feel it may be beneficial for them to be in one cage for company, since they both came from bad homes and pluck/destroy feathers. Maybe a friend or companion would help?

My MAIN question... is; can those two species breed? I wouldn't want any weird hybrid babies. LOL. I'm under the impression they cannot, but I wanted to ask the experts!

Thanks for any help!

Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
No a CAG and an Eckie cannot make babies... (BUT they can have an awful lot of fun trying!:D:eek:) Somewhat kidding...

My odd couple are my lilac crowned amazon and my CAG. Those two are partners in crime...

Same cage depends on the birds, and the size of the cage.

No they cannot make babies, don't worry! :D I have my budgie "having fun" with the lovebird once in a while, but they are not even bonded. And I have my other young budgie riding on the back of my, actually his, cockatiel (it's one of the most hilarious things I've seen). So things happen in the bird world as well as they do in human. LOL :D

My real concern would be the powder from the grey getting on the eclectus, they don't care for it and will over preen even more getting it off. If you do this I would say to give more frequent baths. My eclectus get baths a minimum of 4 times a week and daily when moulting. If yours pluck baths are even more important.
