Cookware

Hello,

I am looking into investing in a new set of cookware. I am interested in Rachel Ray's cookware set. It is made out of hard anodized aluminum. Does anyone have any experience with this or heard anything about it? I want to make sure it is safe for my future parrot. Still looking to adopt one!

Thanks in advance for any assistance!!

I don't know much about the cookware situation, except that I *think* the type of pans you are talking about could incorporate Teflon. My understanding on that point is that this might be ok if you don't heat your pans above medium heat. If I'm wrong, please let me know.

I do want to say, I'm from upstate ny too, and also looking to adopt a rescue. And there nsut doesn't seem to be much around here in that vein! It's so frustrating!

I just Google it, it is coated with PTFE and is not safe for birds. Yes they day it must be heated above a certain temperature before it outgasses but there is much debate about that issue. Personally I would not take the chance.

Thank you! I think I will stir away from that set.

I know, there is a rescue in Syracuse from my understanding, but have not made any contact yet. I have been looking on craigslist and made a number of inquiries, but they all seem to be very sketchy situations! I figure it will happen when it's right :)
