Guys hi!
the matter is my Michael was all alone after mishel left him so I bought a new bird which is named chun chun she fights a lot with my bird so I put her on different cage _ and it seems forever but chun chun is not getting used to michael so my family decided to set him free _ but in place where i live everyone is brutal they dont take care of animals specialy parrots as i do _ seriously ive seen them so i wonder will he survive _ with nob of his flock member in sly anf brutal people and what if i set both free will they both be together?? plz reply me im tensed

Did I read this right? You released a bird into the wild???? How old was he? Was he raised in captivity or was he wild caught?

Hi Barkha,

Can you return Chun Chun to the person you bought her from instead of releasing Michael? Or find someone else who would want a pet bird and take good care of them? If they were not born in the wild, they won't survive long. Even if they were born in the wild, they have no flock to protect them and may not know where to find food or shelter. Even if there are wild ringnecks where you live, he may not be accepted into their flock.

Please do your best to protect your ringnecks and talk to your family to see if you can keep them both a little longer until you can find a good home for one of them.

Please do not release either of your birds, they would have very little chance of surviving.
I agree with Piasa, please return Chun Chun to who you got her from if possible, or perhaps you could find someone else who would take both birds if you need to rehome them both?

Please, please, listen to the good advice you've been given. Releasing your birds into the wild would be a terrible fate, they would have little chance of survival. If you can't care for them, at least make every effort to find someone who is willing to offer them a home.

Oh no! Please don't get rid of any of them to the wild! Pet birds even when taken from the wild hardly ever survive! Please there must be some other way!

I think people might be misunderstanding what you said? So from what I understand here, you do care about the birds, but it was your FAMILY (perhaps mom and dad?) who ultimately made the poor decision to let them free? From what it sounds like, they've already done it?

If this is so, I'm terribly sorry. I've heard of instances where they can survive solo for quite some time, but that would be the exception to the rule. If this has not happened yet, you can do your best to educate your family on the proper care of birds as intelligent beings, and beg them to keep your bird and house him separately. But sadly it does little to change the general ideas in parts of the world that don't have a high regard to animals or pets. Best of luck to you.

guys thanks for ur replies and as far as I've seen the replies everyone suggest that return chun chun to whom u have got her from _but what if he's not wanting her anymore and some of people are buying her and michael but they are cruel _they give nothing for birds to eat but seeds _ive decided to keep them both will they get used to one another?

Sorry,I don't mean to take over someone else's thread, but I also have 2 untamed female ringnecks that I thought would be better off released. I take their cages outside every day and when I see how happy and animated they get I feel guilty keeping them. We have a wild flock in the neighborhood and I feed them daily. So they get visits from wild ringnecks. I thought they would be happier joining them. So you think this is a bad idea?

YES IT IS A BAD IDEA!!!! I highly doubt you will find a member here that says "ya, that's ok, just release them." BAD! BAD! IDEA! Find someone who will take care of your birds, please. Sorry to rant, but these things aggravate me.

I 100% agree. NEVER release a bird that was captive kept back into the wild.

It's a cruel thing to do!

If you don't want your birds - give them away to someone who can and will care for them properly. Releasing them is never an option.

No I'm not going to give them away. I'll be more than happy to keep them and care for them. It was just an innocent inquiry based on them being wild caught,their interactions with the wild flock they see daily and being fed the same thing I feed my birds.

I'm so glad you can keep Michael and Chun Chun. I don't think you should give them to anyone who would be cruel, only to someone who would take good care of them.

Your ringnecks may not ever become friends, but they are sure to watch and call to each other. I have 2 parrots that are not friends and fight, but they miss each other if one isn't around. And you never know, they may become friends or at least tolerate each other in the future if they have their own space to go back to.

what if chun chun wants to go _ she is bored hear and I'm not sure how to tame a wild bird ? should I clip both's wings? and let them around to play and get to know each other? also _ she doesn't like me _ or my bird _ but ill want to know if she wont fight my bird with time passing? and also she'd killed a bird once ? does parrots do that?

I'm glad you've decided to keep them both, Tania. It's definitely for the best.

As for whether they'll get used to one another, there's really no way to say. Bird personalities can be just as varied and unique as our own. And just as how some people just can't get along, the same is sometimes true of birds.

That said, it is possible that they will learn to get along. I've even heard stories of birds becoming close after years of hostility. It does happen. In the meantime, however, all you can really do is watch them carefully anytime they're out at the same time and hope for the best.

Yes it is okay to keep both birds. Keep them in separate cages so they cannot fight. I cannot tell you how long they need to get used to each other. They may already be used to each other and just don't like the other one much. They may never become friends, but they will enjoy the company of another bird and be happy in a safe and caring home. Love them, and they will be happy birds

thanks piasa and anansi _ im really grateful of both of u but is it possible to keep a bigger cage for both of them and let both in ? and where should o keep that big cage when michael was alone he lived in a huge but handy cage_ i used to carry him arround and set him outside in daytime but inside in night time _ will it be okay to placr that big cage outside for both day and night times?

You're welcome, Tania. No problem.

As for putting them together in the same cage, no, I really wouldn't. If they fight as is, putting them in the same cage together risks serious injury or even death.

Remember that, in the wild, two birds from the sane flock wouldn't be forced into close proximity. If there were mutual dislike, one or the other could fly off somewhere else. No matter the size of the cage, that would no longer be an option. (Unless we were talking an outdoor aviary sized cage.)

ahhhh really I hate to say but our home is not that big to effort two cages so my mother says that they will get use to each other so put them together but I'll separate the cage any way _ please tell me should I clip both wings? or its bad idea
