2 love birds, cockatiel, and a green cheek
I brought a green cheek from a local pet store Saturday(February 13, 2016), they had no clue on the sex and date of birth but he's around 6 month of age. There was about 7 green cheeks in the cage and I got the one that was basically a loner. I took him home, have given him a name yet(working on a perfect name).
He's biting a lot and hard to the point he broke the skin surface. I didn't scream or pulled away.

Here's my questions.
What should I do? Give him space to adjust? Train him right away?
He also comes up to me and follows me but won't let me touch him.... He seems like he hates his cage as well, wants out. Didn't eat or drink much....refused treats too.

I own other small birds but I don't know much about a green cheek. I try to research but I need personal opinions from owners.

Also I need help on giving him/her a name.

If he is not interested in eating I would take him to the vet. For such a small body my Pumpkin rats ALOT. WATCH the cage FLOOR for dropping so you know if he is eating. Maybe he is shy to eat in front of you. If he is in fact eating just keep offering treats from your hand. Millet is an absolute favorite.

I would give him time to get used to his new surroundings and to you as well. Gcc's are curious little guys and in no time will calm down and want to be with you.

Today's update, I opened his cage and he came out by himself 20mins later. He didn't eat any food in his cage but he ate outside of his cage. Played with a bottle cape for a good ten minutes by himself. And climbed on to my bed and just stared at me for a couple of hours. He then played with my keys for a few minutes and start to ripe the hair off my dog. He finally let me give him head scratches for a short minute but still won't step up on to my finger.

Sounds like he is doing well but be careful with him playing with your keys, I would think the metal they are made with would not be safe for them. You must have a very patient dog!

Ooo I'll keep that in mind about the keys. My dog, potato, is use to birds messing with her fur.
