Does anyone have a good suggestion on a scale for weighing a green wing macaw?
When my baby comes in, he will be weaned, but would like to have a scale around in case there is any regression.

Thanks

Only thing I can give input on is make sure that whatever you use to hold your bird (stand or bowl) that it keeps the tail off the counter and the full weight of the bird on the scale so you will get a true reading. There are some scales with built in T stands but I just use a cheap $10 scale and a small triangle perch. the perch stays on teh counter so they have a "place" to be when Im in the kitchen and they are familiar with it, so there is no problem getting them onto the scale.

I made an attachment for our kitchen scale (which goes up to 10lbs, so the weight of the perch+Kiwi is fine, you may want to check if yours goes up to a reasonable maximum weight to ensure accuracy). You could always make the PVC platform taller too, to accommodate the extra long macaw tail:) Our scale seems to be accurate enough to monitor weight fluctuations (even the very normal minor ones all birds have).
