Yipes bugs in their seed

First of all I am meticulous in keeping my cage and birds clean. Now I am seeing tiny bugs in their seed cup. I know it's not the seed because I threw away the first container when I saw the bugs for the first time. I then went to a different pet store to buy more seed....guess what....more bugs. I remove all food, spray with mite and lice control and the bugs go away for a week or two then they are back. I spray my two little ones in case they are the carriers but why are the bugs coming back and what should I do? I clean their cage religiously and never let any perishable food sit overnight. Help!

You have a choice, insecticides – poison, or Bugs! If the food is good, everyone wants to eat it! I store everything in the freezer and only take out a couple of weeks worth of food at a time. Remember, if the food is good, it will have bugs in it!

Ah yes, the mysteriously appearing extra protein! You can freeze the seed for 24 hrs or longer. (somebody once posted the minimum freezer time and I forgot!)
