Anyone know where I can get a parrot carrier? Right now I have a smallish cage that I use but A) It's rusted B) It's really awkward to carry around and is just rather difficult to transport since it doesn't fit too well in my car.

I was look at these but they seem a bit pricey to me, anyone have any alternatives? Or is this the general price for carriers?

While I'm at it, anyone know where I can buy one of those flight harnesses and those little things that you can put on a bird to catch poop? (No clue what they're called >> )

If you are talking about getting your baby from point A to B, look into a simple cat/dog carrier! Add a perch and you are good to go! Be careful about the door hardware, not all things are created equal!

I love these back-pack type but geezo-Pete getting all the gear to accommodate a bird is expensive.
We got a "dog carrier" which has worked find but I saw a Pinterest post where they did the perch in the dog carrier and it worked great. I'll try to find the posting and come back to link it.

I have several of this style in assorted sizes as "emergency" carriers in the event of evacuation. They are robust and easily break down for cleaning as desired. I've drilled small holes in the side to attach wooden perches with screw and wing-nut hardware. They work well for trips to the vet.

I give this style /size carrier the 'Amazon Seal of Approval' and would be perfect for your size Parrot for all the reason Scott provided! And, the molded plastic is dishwasher safe!

+1 for the Celtie Pak-O-Bird. Excellent workmanship and it will do any job needed when it comes to taking your bird out of the house.

Something to ponder!
A bad day at the airport!

Security Breach !!

And, why its a bad idea to ship a Too (or any larger hookbill) without food, moisture (fruit), and toys!

Owner: What Happened?
Too: I got rerouted though Chicago! Must have been poor handling equipment! Did you miss me?

Edited: And, Why A Travel Carrier Should Never Be Used as a Cage!!!

LOL! That too was saying "I don't need no stinking plane to fly. I've got wings of my own!!"

Ouch! Point taken!!

We use one of these for the SC going to the vet etc.... BUT when I finally get to bring my U2 home I don't think I'll rely too heavily on one of these!

Lots of parrots, most of them rescues
I have one like this one, just smaller. It's only been used once, but I have it in case of emergency. I have put in 2 perches from side to side and should be macaw beak proof.

I don't know where to get it in the US, but something like that in DK goes for $40.

I usually just put my birds in a harness or clothes with an attached lead and put them in the car. I just remove the head rest and put a towel over the seat. That's a perfect birdie perch :)

As for the flightsuits (the ones that catches poop), this is their website: Avian Fashions - Home of the Revolutionary Bird Diaper, the FlightSuit!

I must admit I am too much of a Scrooge to pay that much for clothes for my birds. I sew my birdie clothes myself (you are welcome to look in my "Other stuff" album with various DYI birdie clothes). If you want patterns for my clothes, I will be glad to share :)

I have even found a youtube video of a DYI flightsuit. Not very pretty, but if it's function you're after, that will do. And you could use a sewing machine and make it nicer.

This cage/carrier seems like it would be beak-proof. It appears to be just a travel crate for dogs so it should be easy to locate but if not there is always Amazon.

I quilt but I haven't sewn clothing in a long time. Bird clothes seem like they'd be difficult because they're so small.

Very common in the states. Petco, Petsmart, Ace Hardware, and most feed and grain stores!

It's not too difficult. It consists of 2 flat parts sewn together. Once all of Christmas things and stuff is done (we celebrate Christmas today) I will take a photo of the patterns for the clothes. If you use a thick material, you can be done with 1 stitch and 5 velcro taps attached :)

Well thank you! Very nice of you to share. I saw on your member profile that you have several birds. What size do the clothes fit? We have a young Sun Conure and a baby U2 that
Isn't weaned yet and prob won't come home for a few more months. I guess they'll be just a tad diff in sizes.
Your McCaw is beautiful. Looking at the pics he/she has such bright, bold coloring. I have to
admit I'm afraid of McCaws. I think they know it too because the other day a baby Scarlett bit heck out of my forearm. I won't be offering an arm to her anytime soon.
