Just for fun,
I wanna know the different personalities of a great billed parrot and a hawk headed parrot. If anyone owns one of these parrots feel free to share their stories/info.
Thanks

There Is a member that has a hawk head so hopefully he'll come along soon and chime in.
They are beautiful but very 1 person birds from what I've heard, they need a lot of socialising to battle this (though good socialising is recommended for any species).

Don't k is anything about billed beaks though, sorry.

don't ask me why I'm posting this. as I think you are just a kid amusing yourself
with all your questions, I also believe you are using a couple of other personas here to amuse yourself.

that said
I have already posted the specs on the hawk headed parrot for you in another thread.
here is the specs on the great billed parrot. and believe if a guy that quit going to school at 15 can use google you should be able to also

The Great-billed Parrot, Tanygnathus megalorhynchos, is a glorious green with yellow and black scalloping on the wing, a bright blue rump, and a spectacular orange/red beak. They have*fairly long tails, though not as long in proportion to their bodies as a macaws or conures. The males are a bit larger than the females with a much larger, almost disproportionate beak and a flat head.* Currently there are very few Great-bills in the United States. In the wild Great-bills are from many islands of Indonesia - northern, central and southern Moluccas, Tanimbar Islands, Timor, Flores and Sumba in Lesser Sunda Islands, Talaud and Sangir Islands, islands around Sulawasi, western Papaun islands and those off the coast of Vogelkop, Irian and Jaya.
*
Great-billed parrots are the largest member of the Tanygnathus family at approximately 16 inches and weighing about 375-450 grams.
*
Great bills are crepuscular, meaning they are active in the twilight.*In a home, this means that they can be sentries who will announce if someone is moving around in the dark in your house.
*
Great-billed parrots are an unusual species of parrot that experts believe are distantly related to the Eclectus.* They are calm, gentle birds that love to hang out. They are birds that, like Eclectus, prefer to be touched only a little, stroking their feathers in the direction of their growth while holding the bird close to your body. They will accept a kiss on the beak or top of the head.*Even with each other, they do not sit close or preen each other.* They are dignified birds that don’t roll around during play, but do love to chew toys to bits.* They need lots of hard wood toys to chew or their beaks have a tendency to overgrow.* Great-bills are*very gentle birds that rarely bite, preferring to run away, or push away the offending object.*Like Eclectus, Great-bills are female- dominant, so the females tend to be a bit more opinionated than the males and love to rule the roost. They are very clumsy babies, and tend to break their tails and flight feathers while learning to fly and during play.* As they get older and more sure of themselves they grow those feathers back and become gorgeous like their parents.*
*
Great-bills LOVE to eat and have very efficient digestive systems that are very good at absorbing all of the nutrition from their food.* Because of this, most pelleted diets are too rich for them and they have problems with over nutrition.* Great-bills do much better on a diet of lots of fresh vegetables, a little bit of fruit, cooked or sprouted grains and beans, and seem to like a bit of animal protein as well (cooked chicken, steak or pork). They also need a good amount of a high quality seed mix and nuts, which are a great source of vitamin E, and a small amount of pellets. ***
*
Great-bills are excellent talkers and often begin to talk early.* They also like to show off their vocabulary and tend to talk in front of people instead of waiting for a quiet room.* They are usually pretty quiet birds, though when they get excited they can be very loud.* The more great-bills that are in the flock, the louder they tend to be.* They do not tend to be as happy around loud, boisterous birds like macaws and amazons, but get along really well with calmer species like Eclectus and African greys.*Great-bills are wonderful companions with calm, gentle, sweet spirits.* They love to hang out and see what is going on and bring much enjoyment into a peaceful household.

also this will be my last response to you as I have
grown tired of this game.

I have a 25 year old female HH who was a breeder all her life. We have had her for 3 years now, and she will step up and allow scritches, but that is as far as she has come. I can't speak to the qualities of a handfed baby HH.
She is extremely nervous, and despises change of any kind. New toys have to be hung outside her cage and slowly moved closer until we can add them in the cage.
A HH is definitely not a bird for someone without experience, IMO.

Just thought I'd add onto the google aspect, there's a site called birdchannel.com that has profiles of all sorted of parrots (as pets mostly). You can't compare 2 birds on one page but all the profiles are laid out in the same way so it's easy to compare one to another. It's a great resource to see the general expectations on different species.

Just remember no 2 bird of the same species will be the same. It might even be an idea to see if there is a bird rescue near you that you can volunteer at. You might find a bird you instantly click with of a species you didn't consider.

this would be the way to go, and find you a friend there that needs someone to love it. I have 4 rescues and 2 I bought as hatchlings. after only being at this a year if I had it all over to do again I would never have bought any hatchlings and I just would have waited for the right rescue to come along
never minding the type of parrot just the early connection that I could make with it at first, hey they all need homes. ownership is a word I try to avoid as you can tell by my pic I'm a free spirited fella and believe the birds to be also.
I like to think of myself as their keeper. they did not ask to be in our human world so someone needs to love em and give them the best they can.

Sammy a 15 yr old U2 rescue what a sweet bird he has become 10 months he has been here. never bit and never looked like he was going to. always looking for someone to hang with even my friends who stop by can pet and handle him. this is the reason I would in the future only rescue adult birds they have lived through all the kid crap and I believe once settled in they are much more stable, now I could be wrong but I would think they would be easier to work and bond with. after a period of time for trust.

I think the only cons are they've had a chance to pick up bad habits. But Dave, it sounds like you've got a great lot of feather and human friends with you :)
My little green cheek Pazu was one I got from a hatchling but he couldn't have been more charming the first time I met him. But there are no rescues within at least 2 hours of me (possible more) but if I ever get another bird I will do better to try and rescue. Though at the moment we're a happy house as we are.

don't get me wrong I'm also a big believer in hell I worked hard for that money and I'm going to spend it on what I want hence the 2 hatchlings.im still just their keeper living in their world. I have also rescued around a dozen dogs over the years only ever bought 1 and he was a work dog who and a job to perform.
