Rebuild after house fire

I lost my home in a house fire and my best friend Harley. Harley was a male Eclectus parrot. My neighbors saved my two dogs who were right next to the back door but were unable to reach my baby and he perished in the fire. I am so broken hearted and miss my sweet green baby so much! I have the oportunity to adopt Harley's little brother. His owner needs to rehome him and I am very intrested in adopting him.
My home is being rebuilt and I wanted to ask how long before I can safely introduce a new Eclectus to the environment. The walls will be painted with water based latex, new carpet with no adhesives and new hardwoods. They had to gut the house and start over with new insulation, sheet rock, flooring, cabinets, and bathroom stuff. They painted the framework with a white sealer to eliminate the smeel of smoke absorbed in the wood. I don't have a choice in these things as it an insuance thing so I am stuck with toxic fixes. I have lost so much including my best friend and while I want to get another one as soon as possible, I don't want to risk his health in the new home by doing that. My heart hurts.

This is such a sad story but it sounds like your strength will overshadow the sorrows. If I could take some of your heart ache I sure would do that. Best wishes for rebuilding your life.

Hello and welcome, sorry that we have to greet you under such unfortunate cercumstances I'm extremely sorry to hear of the loss of Harley, you have our sincere condolences, just a suggestion but I would probably wait a couple weeks after the construction is complete, it will give you a chance to air the house out throughly and to do a few good wipe down cleanings, good luck on the new fid (fid=feathered kid) and please let us now it all works out

Thank you for the kind words. So it won't take months? Oh that makes me so happy! I was truly fearing you guys would tell me I am looking at 6 months or longer. I would have a hard time with that but would do anything to insure my baby was safe. I can wait that long easily. I don't know if the girl who has his brother can wait that long but we will see. If she cannot then I will live with that too. I will not risk my new baby even if that means I don't get Harley's brother.
