I know we get a lot of questions about "I have ______ hours a day, I like this and this and this in a bird". Personally, they really worry me. I don't feel that it's the appropriate attitude toward a new companion, but I found a useful sort of "tool" that may provide a reality check for people who are considering a parrot and may not be ready.

https://myrightbird.com/

It's done by Birdhism, an author who rescues and takes care of disabled birds- so I trust them a lot.
What do you guys think? Try taking it yourself?

DYH Amazon
What a shock and surprise, they determined that an Amazon (yellow-headed) would be a prefect match for me! I am shocked and mortified at the results, who would have ever guessed that being true! :D

After all, Amazon's Rule!

Great tool. I think I will try placing some requirement that clearly do not fit me and see what happens!

Thanks for sharing the link for this tool! With hope it will help those looking to better select a Parrot - or if they have it, not recommend a parrot!

FYI: When I push the far other direction from what I would normal select, they list a Canary as the proper choice!

I wish you could get the birds in the main page to make noise by clicking on them.

I will have to play with the page more.

Well I'm impressed! Lol. Usually my answers to these sorts of quizzes inform me it's time to go buy a macaw or cockatoo (terrible idea!) based on my time, budget, noise level, space, etc, but this time the recommended a cockatiel. I love cockatiels!!!

It said I should get a Linnie. They were on my short list (very short - Linnies and Parrotlets made up the entire list). Linnies seem like lovely little fellows. [emoji3]

MrC took it several times, changing his answers slightly when none of the choices were quite right. He kept getting members of the poicephalus family. I think he was aiming to get a yellow nape amazon, since that's what Goofy is and he's is birdie soul mate.

Hehe I think the quiz is about what "level" bird you can provide for. If you tap/click on the other birds it'll tell you your compatibility with them as well!

Oddly, there's only some subtle differences between his answers and mine. I keep getting various species of macaws and amazons, and he keeps getting the little birds. In reality, he's the one who's the chosen human for the actual macaw and amazon, and the smaller birds gravitate to me. Of course something like this isn't scientific, but I'm glad that some of the questions they have are there, especially the money, noise, and longevity questions.

See I'm
Not so sure. Usually that's how these work, which is why I usually get told one of the big guys, but I'm a small bird person deep down lol.

I got an Amazon and only 50% match for an Alex! I think it might be because I can provide an Amazon level of care and time etc and maybe I took a few "steps of need" back with an Alex? Not sure, had an OWA in the past, she was lovely -although she hated me! - but not what I was looking for this time.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
A Senegal? What have I missed, given my love for cockatoos?

I was probably "dinged" from the land of toos because of my age. At 58, it is not likely I could care for a bird for 50 years. Truthfully, my last too was born 18 years ago. When I have time I'll re-do the quiz adjusting for time!

WOW!

I took it three times, changing my answers to reflect the fact that I would have different responses at different times, I figured. It caame back with JARDINE's every TIME!

If it had said PATAGONIAN CONURE, I would probably have fainted.
