Yellow Shoulder Amazon, Salty
Always been an Amazon person, though we did have a Quaker for a short period. Thats to own, but I love B&G macaws, Greys, Caiques. I was never much on conures or Senigals.

Why Amazons? Because survey says: Amazons have more fun

Congo African Grey
I've always been manipulated by the African grey, I'm a pushover for their eyes and red tails feathers.

I am afraid, though, that I'm slowly falling for amazons and macaws too. Have always felt I'd not be able to handle them but everyone here with amazons and macaws have changed my mind.

But Nigel is now watching me type, does he see what I've written? Oh no! Threats of poop bombs and buttfeathering are on my horizon!

DYH Amazon
I'm a known Amazon Snob, so my answer is pre-estabishied!

That said, if your goal is to determine what Parrot you should get, this is not my recommended approach. That based on the reality that some Parrots will just not want you, no matter how much your WANT them. I am a strong believer in letting the Parrot choose you!

You will be much further ahead by volunteering at a Rescue, starting a the bottom. Yes, cleaning cages and working up as your knowledge growths. During the process you will find that some Parrots will be very interesting in you and others will avoid you.

At some point, a Parrot will pick you and you will have the experience to support, care and love them forever more. All you have to do is be open to it happening!

I am owned by two RLA and one B&G

Aba-baba is my all time favorite parrot, she is my 35yo Red Lored, primrose cheeked amazon.

But I LOVE quakers because they are so darned cute: their two-tone coloring and eyes and little tiny razor sharp beaks.
and they are so hearty and build really cool nests in my neighborhood in jersey.

(although the city just removed about four huge nests and I am not sure what happened to all of the birds.)

The Rickeybird, 38-year-old Patagonian Conure
I have always been enchanted by the Queen of Bavaria (Golden) Conure... just the sheer beauty of them.

I am reminded that the vastly entertaining AND psychic Kentuckienne somehow knew this when she penned a rap for me which referred, in part, to the the idea that as the Queen of Bavaria, my rhymes would bury ya!!!!

I couldn't make this stuff up.

I would like to have a cockatoo, but after reading about them I think they are more work than I'd like to deal with.

They have one at the pet store that says "hey c'mere" and then when you go over he fluffs out his feathers and starts laughing. It's hard to resist taking him home, but then I remind myself of all the reasons why that is a terrible idea.

I'm not supposed to have a favorite of my boys... but while I seem to spend a bit more training time with Harley on biting, Valentine has my heart haha! So I would have to say my fav breed is the Galah cockatoo The why is because he is an absolute ham. He isn't a cuddler but is very sweet and social and just easy going in general. The vet didn't even have to towel him when I took the three of them for their first wellness exam this Saturday lol. I know this isn't typical too behavior though and I am sure I'm in for it when he hits puberty, but I love the breed overall.

In terms of appearance, I'm stunned by a hawk-headed parrot. Such gorgeous birds.

In terms of personality and what I'd be able to own... well my GCC is about as complicated as I can ever get with a bird and their care. I also have a very soft place in my heart for budgies. I very well might get a few again once my life is in a better place to take on more birds and if my conure allows LOL.

I'm partial to the small cockatoos. But now that I'm owned by a rose breasted, they take first place. She's perfection for our household and fits in perfectly. Hilarious, mild mannered, picky, sassy, sweet, opinionated...she's just awesome. I love the pink ones so much that I have a second coming home in a couple months:)

I love the sweetness and beauty of RB2s and I love the sassiness of Quakers--the guy in my signature is Sammy. Allie gave him a home when I moved to Honduras for a year and I know he is super happy there, but I still miss that boy! I have also had GCCs, suns, and budgies in my life, but in a general sense I think RB2s still top the list. They are a perfect size for me, and though I think macaws are gorgeous, I have always felt they were a little too big for me to handle. Just to look at in a photo, though, I'd go macaw! I will probably add more birds to my household sometime in my life, and it is likely the next will be a Quaker.

Wrench13 when my senegal read your comment he cried a little. Senegals are adorable.
They're my fav.

My 19 year old son told me I got a lame bird and should have gotten a Macaw. Poor little Peanut, she is not lame :28:.

LOL, let him be the one who cleans that imaginary macaw's cage!!! Senegals, lame? Pshaw. Pet rocks are lame. *glances at his pet ball python in the hidey rock it never leaves* Sorry, Buddy, just pretend Daddy didn't say that.:D

IKR, I love cockatoo but they're so hard to care. Maybe I will have them when I'm retiring 50 years later

My favorite is Max.... he could have been any species!

I know typical Adoption Coordinator answer, but truly, if you ever go to a rescue and let the bird pick you, won't matter what they are - it's all about who they are

I always said I wasn't a macaw person and I get teased about that, but I always reply - I'm not a macaw person, I'm a Max person!

I tell adopters, there is an saying in horse world that is more true in parrot world - a good horse is never a bad color.... so very true with parrots! The right parrot is never the wrong size or color!

Okay done with my hokey babble....
